First, you need to download the application at the CGFNS Website. The application form consists of a handbook describing what CES is and what needs to be done prior to submitting your forms. Fee for the said application is $335. CGFNS now only accepts application via the Internet.

hi guys.  I am also needing your help.  I just passed the Local board examination here in the Phil. this july and we are already working on my husband’s petition for me.  My mother in law told me to apply for NCLEX online for the state of Illinois as soon as possible so that by the time i get there everything is ok for me to take NCLEX in Chicago.  How can i apply online for NCLEX in Illinois while i am here in the Philippines.  And what are the step by step process that i have to do.  Is it possible if i will apply online by myself or do i need to apply through an agency do i have to register first here  https://www.continentaltesting.net/application/applicationForm.aspx?iProfessionID=10 ??? and then register in Pearson vue?  So where can i get the ED-NUR Form as well as an Original Fingerprint Receipt?  and when do i need to get those?  Is it after my registration in CTS or Pearson Vue?  Or i can download ED-NUR even if i haven’t registered yet in CTS?  Who will send me a request for PRC and my school for the credentials?

First you can download the Illinois Application Packet for RN’s at the link provided. The forms that you were looking for are all in this application packet. Also included in the packet are detailed instructions on how to go about your application. You need to submit your application to the Illinois Board of Nursing before registering for the NCLEX-RN exam with PearsonVue. You can apply for your license on your own.

I took my 1st exam last Aug.2010. I thought that i can re-apply immediately in Pearson Vue so i pay 200$ last week without knowing that i need to send my re-application form first to BON here in CA before paying in Pearson Vue for the retake. Ok lang ba un?My fear is baka kasi magbayad me ulit…

You will not need to repay usually there is a 45-90 day allowance (depending on the state you applied) before you can retake the examination. You just need to resend your reapplication to your chosen BON as soon as possible so you can get your eligibility. The consequence of your action is that you have your ATT start running its 1 year period  validity but this will still depend on which state you applied in (the 45-90 day waiting period) and that you spent $200 right away.

Hi! iv read ur messages with them .. seems ur a good adviser to the applicants. This question bothers me.. will the Ca Board of nursing will still allow me to take the Nclex though i failed the local Board? im residing now in CA, green card holder.. my graduation was last may 2009.. im just wonderin if the CA Board of Nursing will allow me to take the NClex or not though i failed the local Board?

Thanks for the compliment! Here is the thing technically speaking they shouldn’t be allowing you to take the NCLEX-RN without a license in the country where you were educated with your BSN degree. Did you become a green card holder prior to graduating or taking the NLE? If yes, then you might be exempted with the local license since you were a green card holder and usually PRC does not allow immigrants of another country to take the NLE. What you can do is to declare your immigration status with the CA BON and then just be ready if they ask for documents or proof of your immigration status,.

hi.. need your help po..im a registered nurse in california, but since ive read fom this forum that extension is not permitted anymore, i am quite bothered..2012 pa mag eexpire but ayaw ko magahul sa oras before its too late..  i just wanna know what are the documents need to be submitted when applying for reciprocity/endorsement in ILLINOIS, how long will it take to process the documents. mejo naguguluhan po ako sa mga dapat na isubmit lang.. please guide me po.. from there po i can start working on it..ung about sa cgfns na verification? what should i do with it po? toefl is required, pede rin po kaya ung ielts?thank you very much! your such of big help!=)

First of all you should download this application The Illinois Board of Nursing Endorsement Packet all the instructions and application forms you need to endorse will be there. So fill out all those forms and at the same time, you need to get either a CES Report from CGFNS or if you have a CGFNS Certificate or a VisaScreen that can be used instead of a CES Report. You can use the IELTS for the CGFNS Requirements but I think you may need to present a TOEFL result. 2012 is still a long way my advise start renewing or transferring your license 6- 8 months before the expiration of your license.

DILEMMA

I failed my first NCLEX exam in Vermont.And now that Im here in Virginia i planned to apply for a retake.Unfortunately Im having a difficult time since one of the requirement for a retake is to have the nursing council in Kuwait fill up a form to verify my license(my previous work experience for the past 5 years).Mahirap kasi di nmn ako taga kuwait at wala silang site para dito.May Mnistry of Health site nga,di namn gumgana yung English version.Is it possible to apply for California board of nursing even If i have a pending application?I have a ssn and currently holding a permanent resident US visa.salamat po!

Yes it is but I think you would still have to declare that you have taken the NCLEX-RN examination before.

You can always call your chosen selected Board of Nursing to inquire about your result. If your chosen state is part of the compact state you which you can read more about here at the NLCA Information Sheet. You can determine your result online if you registered with a compact state but of course this comes with a fee.

hi..I took up Nclex exam this October but unfortunately i failed it. and they send me a letter regarding about the SSS number. Can I get SSS number when I go to California? coz i have a Tourist visa. Can I avail to have one just for NCLEX exam only and not for employment?  Is that possible? And can i still Get Nclex here and pay again $75 dollars for re-application? How about in Vermont? what are there requirments to have the license? do I have to take first the CGFNS? I still what to take the exam again, please help me with my concerns.I’ll wait for your reply. You cannot get a SSN if you are not a legal resident of the United States of America. You can reapply and take the NCLEX-RN and pay that $75. What you can do is you can endorse your license to Vermont after you pass the California Board of Registered Nursing. In order to endorse, you need to fulfill the requirements of Vermont such as a CES Report etc.

Hi, is it true that when you passed the NCLEX-RN for California and your 3 years has elapsed, and you decide to reapply to the California Board of Registered Nursing, all you have to do is send an appication again together with the fee but you don’t have to take the NCLEX-RN again?

This is not true. They give you three years so you can present them with a SSN before they give you your permanent license. But as of the moment, if you do not have a SSN do not bother applying to California as they will just return your application.

If your papers proceed smoothly with no problems in 3 to 6 months you can get your eligibility.

It would be best if you update your information with the Board of Nursing first then proceed with your reapplication process. Usually the Board of Registered Nursing has some sort of name change form you can accomplish and you can send it together with your reexamination form.

hi. i am planning to take nclex but i dunno what state to choose. i wanted cali sana coz dun nag reside relatives ko  but i guess it requires ssn. also, if i decide sa other state can i transfer to cali ba? may tourist visa na din ako. what if i decide to stay there pwede ba i pa process sa lawyer yun so that ill upgrade it to immigrant or working visa? pls need ko advice mo :) thnks!

California is strict with their application now so if you do not have a SSN you will not be entertained. Like what you said you can always transfer your license to California once you have a SSN. As for having a tourist visa, it is meant for you to be a “tourist” in the US it was not meant to be an upgrade. It would be best to consult a lawyer when it comes to immigration issues.

hi ms. joan,thank you for gracing your time reading my comment, i came across to your site just like them i have my queries in applying for nclex i failed twice in the nclex exam in the state of nevada and now i reapplied to arkansas through a processing center too bad that the arkansas board of nursing is requiring a SSN but i have already sent my application before they have announced the SSN thing, I just wish they would refund the money that we have paid them.Now, i’m currently seeking to apply in vermont or new mexico,im seeking a non-cgfns state. I hope you can help me on how to apply step by step to this states. I still want to take the exam again and give it a try.Thank you so much mam!God bless!

Vermont or New Mexico are two good states I just worry that you having taken the NCLEX twice and failing might be an issue when applying especially in Vermont. I am pretty sure they count the number of times you take the exam and if its 2 or 3 times before they require you to take a refresher course of some sort. So I hope that you can take that in to consideration. Also a lot of state do NOT require a CGFNS Certification exam BUT a CGFNS CES Report which basically evaluates your school records and licenses.
