Are there any special requirements I need to know about to obtain an RN license in California? I am currently licensed in Nebraska and California is not one of the compact states.

First of all download the application form at the California Board of Registered Nursing site. And then there will be forms from the site that the school needs to accomplish then together with that they will send a copy of your TOR and RLE. The course description is not necessary until they request it from you. If you are applying in California there is no need for your to have yourself evaluated by the CGFNS and/or ERES. Request fingerprint cards also at the California BON site and then fill out the necessary information and then have the actual fingerprinting accomplished at the NBI. It would be better if you wait for your actual license before sending your application since there have been recent problems encountered by others with regards to that.

Hi, ms. joan. nakita ko po yung format nung letter of explanation. pero po yung reason ko po kasi ay dahil napakabagal or sinadyang bagalan ng aming eskwelahan na tapusin yung mga requirements namin para mag-apply ng board exam. may palakasan at bayaran na nangyari kaya yung iba ay nakapag-apply kahit na sila ay hindi karapatdapat magboard exam dahil hindi naman maganda ang class standing sa school. papanu ko po i-explain na ganun ang nangyari. baka hindi naman ito tanggapin ng state board. salalamt po. sana matulungan nyo ako.

The board does not need to know everything that is happening within the grounds of your school. So no matter what reason you give the thing is you were not able to take the board exam and the issue is way beyond their control. My best advice is fix the necessary papers you need for school so that you can be able to file at PRC to take the board exam this coming December. And then once you pass, apply to the California Board of Nursing.

I have this concern regarding my eligibility notice. I received it july 2008, unfortunately my family name was mispelled, a typographical error. Im just wondering why would they mispell it, in my application, license, diploma i submitted were spelled correctly. where will I open this concern? i applied in california. would it be okay if i’ll fax it to them than mailing it? I tried emailing the eadd they posted on their site but the eadd is not working anymore.

The best thing you can do is give them a call. Usually they rarely reply on emails. This is the phone number in the licensing department +1(916) 574-7697.

anyway, i would like to ask if the BON are strict regarding the 2×2 passport type picture.. i already mailed my application but it is not in white background.. i was really confused and cannot concentrate on my studies because of this..

I checked the site and it just said 2×2 passport type picture. I don’t think the background would be much of an issue. If it was then they would inform you about it.

another question: sa fingerprintprint card ko ang date na nakalagay is march 8, 2008 kung kelan ako nagpunta sa NBI. sa school requirements mARCH 2 2007 (last year pa ang nakalagay na date kasi di ko xa namail kagad last june 2007 dhil undecided pa ko magnclex).. this july 17 2008 ko lang naiforward sa BON.. sa Application for examination na finil-up-an ko july 15, 2008 ang nakalagay na date. sa bankdraft ko july 16, 2008..

question:

it will cause of delay in receiving my eligibility? dahil sa picture and sa school requirements ko na last year pa ang nakalagay na date pero this july 2008 ko lang minail.. sa post office near the school ko ipinadala yung school requirements. the application for examination together with the fingerprint card, bankdraft, photocopy of my prc licence and diploma dito sa post office nmen where i reside ko pinadala… one week interval lang pagpadala ko..

I cannot give you an exact answer but the date differences with your documents are really big. Anyways, all you can do now is just wait and if there would be any problems the California BON will let you know via a letter. The interval of mailing is fine and what you did with the mailing is correct.

Sad to say yes. I have tried to contact the BON but most people I have asked says that its true once the 3 year period is out you would have to reapply again.

Thank you so much for your guidance. I have received egibility letter from California Board of Nursing last week. I have not registered with Pearson VUE yet. I do not want to take the exam right away due to not well prepared. Can I register with Pearson Vue after a year? And schedule my exam w/in that year? I’m very much appreciate your asistance in this matter. Thank you!

Yes that is possible. You are given 2 years to register with PearsonVue by the California Board of Nursing. Then once you register with PearsonVue you are given a year to take the examination. Just a piece of advice, take time to sit down and plan your schedule in terms of reviewing and more importantly settle for a test date.

i just ran through your page. it was interesting.i just would like to ask how long will it take me to wait for the papers? is it ok if i start reviewing on sept.for the nclex already? wouldn’t that be too early? i haven’t stated filling yet because i i don’t know how to start or where to start with the application… thanks and god bless!

It depends on the state you plan on applying to. But safe to say average waiting time would be from 3-6 months. It is never to early to prepare for the exam. Even if review programs last an average of 3 months you would still need to do some self reviewing and apply what you learned in the review program. If you feel its too early to go to a review program you can do some self review and then once you get your letter of eligibility that is the time you apply to a review program. The important thing is you set some goals and guidelines on how you will go about this whole process. Set a target date on when you plan to take the exam and how to go about your review. Good luck!

ei ask q lang poh… i passed the NLE last june… and im planning to submit my application for NCLEX cause i know that it takes months to receive your eligibility… but i still dont have a copy of my license yet since my schedule for registration is on september 11.. is the letter of explanation really enough? or do i need to provide them my diploma, certificate of rating, etc..? pls pls help me..

my friend has the same problem.. she told me that she will just wait for her license because someone told her that they’re application has been disapproved / there’s a discrepancy…

and it is not refundable right? so i really need to clarify this…

Hello po..i need ur help regarding the Nclex examination registration form.I recieved my LOE together with the Nclex candidate Bulletin last June 11, 2008.I decided to register thru mail.and now im having a hard time accomplishing the form.

I left the Current mailing address blank for a while because my current address is kinda long and I’m nervous that i might not get it right or not write it the proper way.another problem is the boxes are not enough to accomodate my whole address.

If i provided my E-mail address, do i still need to write my mailing address? (stated on the candidate bulletin that if i choose to provide an e-mail address, all the correspondence from Pearson VUE will arrive ONLY by E-mail.)

Hi! i just arrived San francisco 5 days ago and tried my luck in applying for a nursing job. With me are the following, NCLEX passed result, training program certificates, transcript of records. They wanted to hire me but, they ask me to secure aTIN ( Tax Identification Number). I went to IRS but was denied by its officer. How or where can i secure my TIN? Please help. Thanks!
