Q&A: Expired Application, Taking The Exam in the US and more…

JANETTE

I have read your article in pinoybsn about applying for NCLEX in CA. Like what u said I used the address of my sister-in-law in Sacramento,CA, I indicated it in my application form and of course the rest of the other forms. Do I have to change my address there, I mean sa CaBON? Pano po kaya yun? pls help me out with this.

At isa pa po, need pa po ba mag CGFNS pag sa California, ang sabi po nila nde daw po required CGFNS dun, is that true?

Hope u could help me out with this, I also emailed them about it kso wla pang response pero 2days plang din naman po. Salamat and God bless!

When your register on the Pearson Vue site you can still use your sister in law’s address. What is important is that during your examination your name matches your proof of identification which is your passport. As long as the data in your eligibility and ATT are the same it would be fine. California Board of Registered Nursing does not require CGFNS examination. Usually, the CA BON does not require thru email not unless they consider it as a legitimate question. I hope this helps.

I had a concerned regarding about my application in vermontt which i just recently mailed my documents last aug. 24, 2009 im just worried because i also include the check in my documents. and until o don’t receive any letter or email from vermontt stated that they have already receive my papers. pls help me…

Have you tried checking your email? Usually, they respond via email it might have been in your spam or junk mail. If there is still no response, it would be best to give them a call to have an update regarding the status of your application.

i would like to ask what are the requirements for the change of name? i already pass my reapplication and received my Eligibility now im planning to change my name since my status have been change. my first application i didn’t use my married name because i still dont have my marriage certificate and my Prc license was not change. is it ok if i change my name now and what are the requirements? do i need to pass a letter? please help me. thank you

i would like to ask how long will my eligibility last? i already reapply for my nclex exam CA last 2008 i received my eligibility last nov. 26, 2008 until when po siya? kasi hindi pa po ako nagbayad for the exam

There is a form for change of name/ address in the California BON site just follow the link provided. The LOE lasts for 2 years and then once registered your ATT will last for a year.

hi ms. joan, i am presently working here in vancouver canada as an RN and would like to retake the nclex exam. unfortunately, my file with california BON had expired so they might not have it anymore. am i going to start processing again from the very beginning? same thing that i did when i first applied. are kaplan and ncsbn reviewers better than mosby, lippincot and saunders? is it better to take exam in asean country rather than i go to the states since there will be more chance of passing it? well, that what i’ve heard from my friends.do i have to take IELTS and CES? i’ve worked already in england for more than 6 years and i am on my second year here in canada. pls. feel free to send e-mail to my querries. thanks and have a pleasant day!!!

Unfortunately yes you would start all over again. As for the reviewers I cannot guarantee if a reviewer would work for you or not since we all have different study habits and patterns, what might work for me might not work for you. But if you want to have an idea I made an article before about my NCLEX-RN experience that might shed some light on your part. Feel free to read it.

I don’t think the chances of passing would be based on where you take it as the exam would be based on your test taking abilities. I think it would be easier to take the exam in the US as more schedules would be available as opposed to trying to compete on taking a slot in an Asian country. I mean if you have the means to take the exam in the US then it would a lot cheaper on your part financially since you are based in Canada. IELTS and CES is not a prerequisite in applying to CA BON but in other US state it might be.

SHEAN

im shean. i am presently here in LA already an immigrant, graduated last march 2009. I have passed already my requirements to the CA BON except my local license. The board sent me their initial evaluation and they told me to submit a copy of my nursing license. i also provided them a letter of my explanation why i dont hold such license. what will i do? pls, help. thanks

Well maybe you can resend them a letter explaining to them thoroughly that you were not allowed to take the PNLE because of your status.
