Sticky Notes: Sample Format of Letter of Explanation for California Board of Nursing
Okay I know many people have been wondering on how to go about the “Letter of Explanation” since most of the people here either are new graduates or just recent board passers so obviously they do not have a license at hand thus needing to write a letter explaining why they do not have one.
So here is a possible format on how to write this letter:

1625 N. Market Boulevard,
Sacramento, California 95834-1924, USA
To Whom It May Concern:
As indicated in your requirements for application we need to provide you with a photocopy of our license or diploma to practice professional nursing in the country where we were educated. I would like to inform you that… (state your reason why you do not have a license)
(If you have any other proof of documents such as a Certificate of Passing from PRC also indicate it in the letter that you attached such documents.)
Sincerely Yours,
(Complete Name and Signature)
That is a sample format of the letter I hope this clears things up since many of you are requesting on how to go about it. Please take note that the text in parenthesis in bold and italics are notes so it could give you an idea on how to continue the sample letter.
Some might think that the letter is too short but the thing is though you just have to be direct and give your reason so there is no reason for it to be a lengthy letter.
You can have it computerized or handwritten as long as it is legible. Do not forget to include your signature.

hi miss joan, my LOE from Cali just arrived this morning..
just want to ask what will i do next?.. i saw an envelope inside the Candidate Bulletin enclose with a registration form.. do i have to fill it up and enclose a money order worth $200 in it and mail it back to them?.. because what i knew is there is also another way of registering to provide an ATT, right?, its thru their website, which http://www.pearson.vue.com/nclex and you will register there and have your credit card ready, am i right miss Joan?.. now what makes me confusing is what will i do for me to register to provide an ATT, is it by mailng or thru their website????..
this really confuse me.. HELP!!!.

oh, i would like to add, what if i wanted to schedule my appointment at Guam?.. is there any conflict, or will they ask me for documents and papers?.. what are the requirements?.. please help me miss joan, thank you so much..

Hi! Ms. Joan Dati po akong nag-iinquire sa inyo sa codedmushroom at nalaman ko po ung dito sa bagong site mo.. May itatanong po ako ulit. Kasi po last March narecieve ko na po yung LOE ko. Ang pagkakaintindiko po 2 years ang expiration po nun.. Edi pwede magregister anytime within 2 years na binigay nila? Ibig sabihin po ba pwedeng sa June nalang ako magregister sa Pearsonview? Kasi balak ko po sanang magtake sa July o sa August..

hi.. follow up question miss joan.. im planning to take the exam at GUAM, what are the requirements?.. do i need to have a tourist VISA?.. what are the procedures to obtain one?.. can you provide me a good site for the information about obtaining a tourist VISA in Guam and taking NCLEX exam there?.. thank you so much..

Hi miss joan.. i passed the exam [california] June, may expired po ba talaga yan if hindi ako nakapag present ng SSS number sa kanila within years, does it mean po ba na i have to retake it again if i wasnt able to present a SSS number?? advice naman sa next step if mag-agency po ba ako or waht.. thanks po…

hi. i took the nclex-rn exam last february 2008 at san francisco,california but unfortunately i failed. I am now back here in the philippines because my tourist visa expired already. Is there anyway i can re-take the exam once again here in the phil. before my att expires on december 2008? I really want to take the exam, i emailed pearsonvue couplr of times asking questions about this but i didn’t get any reply. Hope you could help me with this. Thank You.

wow!i2 na po pala new site mo ms. joan…as ko lang po, i received this morning yung letter of eligibility ko along with the candidate bulletin.same with what pinxoul is asking, do i really have to mail the form attached in the candidate bulletin aside from registering on pearsonvue?naguguluhan po kasi ako…thanks a lot!

hi miss joan, when i processed my nclex application for califronia BON i used my US address but now im back in the philippines. according to my aunt, they received a letter from California they dont know if that’s the eligibility letter already so they read it to me over the phone. not sure also if that’s the eligilibity letter but it states there that i have to register to pearson vue. my problem is that the letter is with my aunt and they didnt mail it to me. would that possible to call california board of nursing to ask another letter to be sent here in the philippines? can u also send me a sample letter of eligibility? just to see how it looks like. pls… thanks a lot! is the eligibility letter important when registering at pearson vue or not? is there any important no. that i need to know in the letter when registering at pearson vue. pls help me. thanks again. please email me at jeylz@yahoo.com. good day!

hi ms joan hindi ko po kc maintindihan kailangan pa po bang mgregister sa pearson vue. kc nakapgsubmit na po ako ng application sa ca. board of nursing at narecieve na po nila ung doc. k opo from the phil. pero po hindi po ako nkpgsubmit ng explanation letter why i dnt have a license…hindi ko po kc napansin and ngaun im planning to send it kaso hindi ko po alam ung reasnable na pwedeng sabhin…

and another thing po pwede po ba mgtake ng NCLEX sa Ca. BON kahit ala ka local license po.. i am really confuse kc po ngkpgsabi sakin na hindi na daw po tumatanggap ang ca bon ng walng local board… pls help me.. thanks po
