Its okay but of course doing such has its pros and cons. It might cost you more in the long run in terms of time and finances if you take the exam and California and then have your licensed transfer to Illinois. So just weigh out your options and decide on where you want to take the exam.

Good morning! I am worried a lot about my fingerprint cards. I sent the two finger print cards. Before that, I put my nickname in the aliases or aka box which the NBI found out that it should be blank since i don’t have other names. I’ve put my nickname there because i thought it’s a nickname since here in the philippines especially applying in nbi requires other names so my mistake. So what the NBI told me is to erase using a white out. I already sent my application last couple of days. But i’m still worried if the card will be rejected which will create delay in my processing.. What shall i do?

All you can do right now is wait. If ever there would be problems with your application the California Board of Nursing will send you a letter via mail for any correspondence with regards to your application. The best thing you could do right now is request another set of fingerprint cards and then have it accomplished at the NBI and just have it ready just in case the CA BON asks you to resend another set of fingerprint card. That way you save time rather than just waiting for their correspondence doing nothing. I hope this helped. If you want you can give them a call to verify the status of your application.

Thank u very much Miss Joan!But I have another question again,Kailangan po ba Authenticated ng PRC ang copy ng license ko bago ko mail sa CA.Lahat po ba kailangan nila sa copy of license ung Board rating,Certificate o ID xerox lang po.

To be safe send them a certified photocopy of your PRC license or the PRC diploma if you have it at hand already. If not, you need to request from PRC your Certificate of Passing as proof.

That depends with you. I usually suggest using a US address since mailing of documents in the same country would definitely be faster. But sometimes its not enough to have relatives abroad you have to make sure that your relatives can relay to you the correspondence coming from the CA BON so that you can also repsond to them accordingly.

1. Telephone Number: Home (   )  Alternate (   ) What will i place inside/ outside the parenthesis?

You write on the (   ) the country and area code in the Philippines the country code is 63 and 2 is the area code for Metro Manila. If you live outside Metro Manila there is a different area code assigned. You can try searching it on the internet. And then outside the (   ) will be the 7 digit phone number. So for example, you are residing in Manila it will appear like this on the form (632) 999-9999.  Alternate number just means if you have other phone numbers where they can reach you.

2. Type of Program if i just finished 4 yrs BSN Diploma right? i’m sorry for asking stupid things i would just like to make sure…

You should be checking BACCAULAUREATE since you hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. 

3. Primary Language: Filipino/ Tagalog/ English?

You can put Filipino or Tagalog.

Fingerprint Card: RACE: 1. Is it Asian or Filipino? 2. Is there an abbreviation for this since the space is too narrow? I’m looking forward to your reply. Thank you very much!

Its Asian. Yes there are specific abbreviations and here were the abbreviations that came with the application form. Here are the guidelines taken from the California Board of Registered Nursing website:

However, if this form is not used, all of the information requested must be provided on original letterhead stationery of the nursing program.

Am I supposed to give this form to our dean and have it answered and then mail it together with my documents? thanks!!!!

Yes the school would need to fill that up and then send it together with your other school forms that you asked them to accomplish. If you are not going to use the provided form given by the California BON you would have to ask the school to answer the contents of the said letter using a paper with the school’s letterhead.

I just want to ask about the payment of bankdraft for nclex application form… to whom will i address the bankdraft mam? Because the bank is requiring me to mention the exact name and address to whom i will send my bankdraft… pls reply mam… thank you…

Let me make it clear are you paying in order to be able to take the NCLEX-RN exam or are you still applying for you to be eligible to take the exam? Because those are two different things. If you are paying to be eligible to take the exam then the exact name of the draft would depend on what state you applied in. As for the other, you would have to call PearsonVue on what needs to be written on the bankdraft.

hi ms joan i have a question it would be possible kung isesend ko po yung explanation letter why i dnt have a local board license na late..nakapag send na po ako ng application then my friend ask me kung ano daw nireason ko then i found out na kailan pala nun so i was planning to send it..pede po ba un khit late na or wait ko lang po muna ang BON na isend kung anong kulang ko n documents??? and 1 thing more hindi ko po alam kung ano irarason ko i was already here sa ca..hindi po ako nkpag take ng NLE kc ung visa ko ngexpired na nung may so kinailangn ko umlis ng phil. ngaun po naka pending ung application ko sa immigration dahil ngapply po ako ng student visa advice ng para-legal para makpg stay ako at d 2 ko na matake ung States board para lng d ako maout of status…ang Q. ko po pede ko po bng irason un ohhh iba nlng pls help me… im really confuse eh what to say…

Just wait for the California BON’s correspondence on whatever documents you may lack from your application. As for the reason for your letter of explanation, it really depends on your situation as this will really be a case to case basis.

You should register with PearsonVue once you get your Letter of Eligibility from the California BON. Like what I said, the explanation letter would be on a case to case basis. Its just that from experience with people asking here it seems like they have been more strict in terms of having a local license as a requirement.

Hi Miss Joan, I’m new here,,, good that i found this site. I’m an RN and an NCLEX California passer and still scheduled for IELTS exam.. I just wanna ask if ever I already passed my IELTS I’m planning to apply in SENTOSA RECRUITEMENT AGENCY, (have you heard of this agency?)… I’m not really sure if this agency is intended for NCLEX New York passers,, if that is possible, can I still work in New York even if I’m California NCLEX passer?

I have heard of the said agency. If you are having doubts or wanting more information about the agencies you intend on applying in you can always google them on the Internet. You can always endorse your license to another state. Its just a matter of fufilling the other state’s requirement.

I have this problem about my SSN. I’m worried,the California Board of Nursing will destroy our files if we did not give them our snn for a permanent license in California within 3 years, what if I can’t make it within 3 years? (I passed my NCLEX last September 18, 2008) If ever I already have my agency, can I use the snn of my agency temporarily and just renew it nalang?

You cannot use the agency’s SSN. A SSN is a very important document in the US and is personal. If you want you can always contact the California BON and explain your situation since the retrogression is delaying your application to be able to work in the US. Maybe they can offer you advice on what needs to be done and what can be done.

good afternoon po ulit and thanks po sa mga suggestions nio sa mga prev. inquiries ko.its been 2mos since i took my nclex na po sa makati for california state that was aug.5,2008.Until now po kc, the consultancy that assisted us during the days we were processing our nclex told me that they havent received my result kasi sa kanila po nakaaddress sa manila.and they also suggested that we will just have to wait for it kasi d rin naman sasabihin ang result ko kahit tawagan pa ang brn. What i would want to inquire po sana ulit is if there are other ways i could do to ff. up on my result myself at kung pwede po bang magparesend sa ibang address ng result if ever sa consultancy man po nagkaproblema.what po kaya pwedeng icontact na numbers if pwede iparesend.thank you and God Speed..

It’s true that even if you give them a call they will not disclose the outcome of your exam. The best you could do is give them a call and inform them about the situation. The most that they can do is resend the results again with the given address and they might be able to shed some light on what caused the delay with the results of your exam. You can give them a call at 1 (916) 574-7697 from 8 to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays Pacific Time.

Yup that is correct. When you go to the PearsonVue website, click on My Activity and then login with your username and password. Like me (phils.) – relative (US) – california BON and vice versa. i would like to ask also if the address that I will be placing on the application form will be my address here in the Phils. or my relative’s? thank you very much! =)

Yes its fine to use a US address in your application form. But please take note that all correspondence coming from the California BON will be sent there. So just make sure that whatever correspondence you will be getting from them would be relayed to you by your relatives in the US.

Its fine. What is needed in the California BON is a 2×2 picture not Passport size anyways. And if ever there would be a problem the California BON will correspond with you via mail.

I have some questions regarding the nclex application…

Will I send the actual bank draft cheque to the state where I’m appying for??? Because someone told me that I will just send a photocopy of it.

Can I send my requirements through regular mail at the post office/station? or is it necessary for me to send it via fedex/lbc/etc??? thanks…=)

You need to send the original bankdraft maybe what your friend is telling you is to photocopy it for your own documentation. Also you can use regular post office some just prefer other couriers because its fast and you can track your packages while it is in transit to its designated location.

helo po…i took the nclex exam last august and unfortunately i failed…  i reapplied and sent 75 dollars..till now po wala pa pong kong response from the bon.. ask ko lang po kung ung application form and 75dollars lang ang isusubmitand kung hihintayn ko pa po ba ung eligibility ko ulet since after 2 years pa mageexpire ung eligibilty ko… and how many days or monz will i wait so that i can receive my eligibility or att?.. thank you so much for your help…

You need to wait for your eligibility letter and then reregister at PearsonVue. I know that your eligibility expires in two years but it doesn’t mean that you get to reuse it. It was given as a time period to register for PearsonVue for your initial examination. Its a tough place to be in and my best advice is while waiting for your eligibility take time to analyze what happened in your exam. Condition and prepare yourself in retaking the exam. Make a schedule and plan out your goals in retaking. Its really hard to be in this position but the important thing is to move forward and at the same

at present i am preparing for Nclex and i have teken 2 HESI tests from my consultancy and as per their instructions i have to get more then 800 then only it shows that i am ready for the exam.Is it correct.because in the last 2tests i have scored 686 and 692 and i am very depressed and not able to assess weather iam prepared for the test or not.So please guide me in this.

Here is the thing you can never be too prepared with these examinations with such a large scope of subjects and topics its impossible to know everything. The important thing in taking these practice test is that you realize your mistakes and learn something new everytime you do them. With regards to the HESI exam, you need atleast 850 which is considered a minimally accepted level or around 65% to considerably pass. But of course always aim for a higher score. Utilize your resources and do not limit yourself with just the exam as basis for your readiness.

Yes it is fine. The address will just be used in terms of where your results and other correspondence from the California Board would be mailed.

This is a case to case basis. But based on experience of people who writes to me here in the site it seems like they are being asked for a license where they were educated. And if you check out their application form they waived off the part of writing a letter of explanation where you were educated. 

and about po sa explanation letter kung bket wala kng license hindi po ako nakpgsubmit nito nung ngsubmit ako ng application it would be possible po ba kung isesend ko ung letter khit pol late o intayin ko nlng po ung CA BON about sa lack of requirement ko po?

I would suggest that you just wait for their correspondence if they will ask from you a letter of explanation or ask for your local license.

I really cannot help you with this part since everyone has a different reason for not having a license in the Philippines. Just explain your case to them when they ask you to provide one.

When you get your eligibility you are given a year or two to register with PearsonVue to take the exam. But once you register with PearsonVue you are given a year to take the examination.

Yes you can write for Application to the California Board of Registered Nursing.

and the second question is that, i have no middle name. which i think is very rare.. should i place N/A at the box where middle name should be provided? and my mom and I have same family names. is it okay if i place JOSOL at the box where MOTHER’S MAIDEN NAME is required?

Wow that is very rare. The best thing to do is base this on documents such as passports or birth certificates because usually they have spaces for your middle name. As for the mother’s maiden name just write your mom’s complete maiden name. I think from there they will figure out why you may not have a middle name.
