Q&A: Applying In Illinois, Fingerprint Card Queries and more…

LEZHENG

uhm.. hello there! Im just a little confused about sending the applications. I have read in your older articles that it would be faster if I asked someone from the US to send my application…

The address in my application is from the Philippines. The address I will be using to send the letter to the BORN will be from the US. Will this do? Will I still receive my ETT?

I think it would be better to use a single address in all the forms just to prevent any conflicts. And when I said faster I meant the mailing time whether you have a US address or not does not affect the application process itself. And what you are waiting from the Board of Nursing is not your Authorization To Test (ATT) but your Letter of Eligibility (LOE).

Lastly, the Breakdown of Educational Program and Transcripts letters… My school does not mail these letters for us. We have to mail it ourselves. Why cant I just staple the application, and these envelopes and have them sent together in the US(mailed by a family member) instead?

Because these forms should be coming from the school NOT from you. If you mail it together with your application form they will just deny your application and ask you to send another one coming from your school. But since a lot of school does not offer mailing service what you do is mail it in behalf of the school (so technically you mail it using the school’s address). Just make sure you have all the documents in a sealed envelope with the school registrar’s signature and or pressed with the school seal. Of course the Board of Nursing would also want to prevent any form of falsification of documents that is why they want the school to send those forms directly.

There’s also the matter of the fingerprint card. I was born in LA, CA. Is there a code for that? And the Race. Asian decent: AZN or Asian?

In the instructions that comes with the application form they have no specific abbreviation for race only for the color of eyes and hair. And also instruction to use pounds for weight and height should be expressed in feet and inch. As for the place you were born just write the city and the state where you were born.

Im done with almost all of the requirements. Jst the mailing thing that bothers me a lot.

Good luck with the application and let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

hi maam…ask ko lang po sana na eprint ko na lng po ung ATT ko that I received through email taz un po ang ipresent ko sa testing center.taz ano po mga tatanungin pag nagpaschedule na po ako so that I can be prepared po.tnx po

If you received your ATT via email then you would need to print that and present that together with your passport when arriving on your test day. When scheduling, just be ready with your basic information as well as your ATT and passport information. I am not sure how you would pay for the extra $150 for scheduling an exam outside the US but if ever they accept credit cards be ready with the information of your card as well.

I ust wanna ask, what kindd of Visa I need to aplly if i Decided to take the Nclex in US and hows the process.?? Thanks and Godbless!!

I am not sure if there is a specific visa you can apply for just to be able to take the NCLEX exam. I think it would be better to inquire with a travel agency who are more experienced about such process.

Hi mam Joan, ask ko lng po yun about sa fingerprint card. I wrote down BLACK instead of BLK dun sa HAIR and EYES section. panu po kaya yun? thnx po more power!

I am just concerned that they gave out specific instructions for such. So if it is not yet too late I think it would be better to have it changed rather than sending it over and then later on have it sent back to you again. The thing is the fingerprint card would be sent out to different agencies there so if they give out specific instructions I think it should be followed.

Q&A: Authorization To Test, Applying In California BON and more…

TWINKLE

Good day po,na recieved ko na ung elibility ko from CA pero di ko alam ang first step pra sa ATT.Hope anyone can help me.Di ko rin how much ang babayaran ko sa pearson vue.

Okay before you go to the next step ask yourself if you are already ready to take the exam? Because once you register with PearsonVue and get your ATT you are only given a year to take the examination. But also bear in mind the scheduling of your exam date especially if you are going to take the exam in Manila it might take time to get a vacant slot. Registration for PearsonVue is $ 200 and then if you are taking the exam outside US there is an additional $150.

hi there.. im here in california right now…i just wanna ask if how many months is the waiting period for the eligibilty of my nclex application since i changed my Philippine address to my cousin’s residential address I’m residing right now… Is it true that it is much faster?

Mailing would be faster but the process itself would not change. Waiting for eligibility varies depending on a lot of factors but considering all your documents are correct and complete and meets their standards you are looking at 2-3 months but this can take at 6 months maximum. If you want, you can give them a call and inquire about the status of your application just be ready with your basic information. Just make sure that a month or so has passed since you submitted your application prior to calling.

My question is “THE DATES STATED ON THE FORMS IS FEBRUARY 5, 2008 AND IS IT OK IF I STILL USE AND MAIL THOSE DOCUMENTS FOR MY APPLICATION SINCE IT BEEN A YEAR SINCE I GOT THOSE DOCUMENTS? and my other question is “CAN I MYSELF USE THE SERVICE OF FEDEX OR ANY OTHER CARRIER TO MAIL THE ENVELOPE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MAILED BY MY SCHOOL?

I just worry that your forms might be questioned since its been more than a year since it was requested. That might have some issues if the BON notices that. If you can get a much recent copy of the documents needed that would be much better. As for availing of special couriers for mailing the school documents it is possible to mail it yourself since you said it yourself that your school does not seem to offer such service. Just make sure to use the school’s address when mailing and make sure that all documents coming from the school is in a sealed envelope and with the signature of the school registrar and or placed with the school seal.

hi i would like to ask about the payment? is it ok if i will combine the fingerprint fee and application fee in my money order? and in money order saan ko po to eaddress and name po ng incharge?hope to hear from you ASAP..thanks..

Yes it is okay if you combine the fees for the fingerprint card and application. Make the money order payable to the BOARD OF REGISTERED NURSING.

by the way can u correct me if i missed something in my application?

Sure no problem let’s see what you have in store for me :)

1st envelope includes

  • application form
  • fingerprintcard
  • payment
  • photocopy of board rating certification
  • photocopy of diploma
  • explanation letter

Yup that is pretty much it. But if you have your PRC license with you, you could send a copy of that instead of sending a copy of your board rating. But if you do not have your license yet it would be better to send an original copy of the board rating or at least a certified true copy and then an explanation letter.

2nd envelope includes

all school documents address to BON in california from school (address) not my address? pls help me…thanks in advance…

Yes that is correct and it has to be mailed separately coming from the school.

hi ms. joan, im planning to apply for NCLEX exam. i already have the copy of application form. since im the first student to apply for nclex exam from our university, our dean and staff from our university registrar are not yet familiar with the forms to be filled up.. my dean is asking me about the nursing program verification form.. Wht info does it is exactly  asking from the dean of our college..  or could you furnish me a copy of a fully filled up nursing verification form so i could send it to our dean for his reference….Please help me… Ingie

The nursing program verification form is included with the application forms. Pretty much the content of those forms are very basic what is says is to write the format of examinations used during the time you attended school.

Q&A: Vermont Application, Forwarding NCLEX Results to CGFNS and more…

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

SHA

hi ma’am joan!..i failed nclex cali last january,i reapplied for the exam and already recieved my eligibility..what should i do next? is this eligibility letter they sent me is also my ATT?

Nope it is not. After receiving your eligibility you can now re-register at PearsonVue to get a new ATT. Of course you would have to pay the necessary fees to be able to get that ATT. Please take note that once you register with PearsonVue you are only given a year to retake the examination. You can get through with this endeavor just take time to reassess everything and just see what went wrong the first time you took the examination. Good luck!

hi! i just want to ask if i can take nclex exam in vermont even if i havent take my local board exam yet? thanks and more power.

You need to have a license here in the Philippines. There is a form from Vermont that will ask verification of your license.

how can i download the aplication form for nclex exam for california board of nursing.thanks

You can download the application form for Application by Examination in California in the link provided.

JANET S.

i took up my nclex last nov., 2006, but it so sadly that i did not passed… after 90 days i re-apply , then my eligibility was sent to me… until the time comes that i did not register in pearson vue and my eligibility was expired. now i am planning to re-apply it again… my board of nursing is CBNE, am i going to submit again my TOR or documents to cbne? or only the application form with the enclose of bank druft/ fee.

I am not sure what CBNE stands for what state is that? But ti be sure, please inquire in the state you applied in for the correct process before making any other moves. But more often than not when your eligibility expires you would really have to re-apply again but sometimes they have a certain amount of time where they keep your records so better give them a call to ask with regards to their policies as they may still have your file on record and just require you to pay the application fee.

MARIANNE R.

hello.. i just want to ask how many days it takes before CA BON forward the result of my NCLEX to CGFNS?

In my experience it took them a month or two before CGFNS got the result. Please bear in mind that the NCLEX result for California to be forwarded requires a fee aside from the Verification Letter if I am not mistaken its $60. Hope this helps :)
