Hi,i need guidance in my visascreen application. I am a registered nurse and already passed my nclex and ielts. I would like to apply for visascreen but do not know where to start.What is the first step I should take? What are the fees I should pay? Please help.

Well first you can dowload the application at the CGFNS site. From there try to read through the instructions that comes with the forms. You can either mail the application or apply online which is far more convenient. There would be forms that needs to be accomplished by your school, PRC and IELTS so after applying to CGFNS you need to do those. Its important to apply to CGFNS first since you’ll be needing the order # form that they will provide once you applied. Fees are mentioned in the forms estimate of about $300 or so and then of course there will be fees incurred when you request stuff from your school, PRC and IELTS.

i just wanna clarify ung about sa ADDRESS na pwede po gamitin?, So, i’m here in the philippines ,and can i use ung california address ng relative ko, sa lahat po ba ng mga forms?, including the fingerprint card? and forms na i-mail ng school, kahit na po im residing in the phil and planning to take the exam here, hindi po kaya magka conflict or i-question ako ng CA.BON why california ang address ko and i’ve never been there?  i’ m really confused .. others told me na philippine address daw dapat sa forms ko and then ung outside envelope for mailing envelope lang ang california address?, ganun po ba?,

Yes that is fine you are only using the California address for mailing purposes. It would be conflicting to have a Philippine address in your documents and then using a California address in others. You choose either one of the two.

After getting your eligibility, you need to register to PearsonVue to get your ATT. Registration is $200 and additional $150 if taking the exam outside US territories. Please bear in mind that once you register with PearsonVue you are given one year to take the examination. Just make sure when you register, you are ready to take the exam within the year.

I’m having a problem. Malapit na po ako makumpleto sa mga reqts ko sa nclex cali except po yung payment for application fee and fingerprint hard scan. Kailangan po ba talaga na may naka-attach na payment na bankdraft don? Or is there a way po to pay them through credit card after ipadala po yun reqts? Wala po kasi akong dollar account for the demand draft or bank draft.

Your application will not be processed without the application fee. You just need to go to a bank and ask for their process on how to make a bank draft. A bank draft is similar to a manager’s check. It would be best to go to a bank where you have an account so they can assist you better. Hope this helped. Also make sure to make the draft payable to BOARD OF REGISTERED NURSING.

hello maam..I have a question po regarding po sa application form ng cgfns…ano po ang ilalagay ko maam sa nursing experience po kung di pa nman po ako nagkaroon ng experience except noong student pa lang po ako sa mga quetion po sa nursing registration or license po ano po ang mga isasagot ko din maam.. If you have no experience after schooling then write none. As for your nursing education you will write BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING as degree obtained. I hope this answered your question.

I failed the Vermont- Nclex for the 2nd time,I just want to ask about the  re-take application form because they revised it. Do I need to accomplish  the page 5, “Verification of International Registered Nursing licensure-Re Take Enclosure?  I sent already the copy of my professional license certified by PRC way back 2007.

There is a revised form for NCLEX-RN Retake for Vermont. Please be reminded that you must complete a formal NCLEX review as stated in the forms. I think you should accomplish that form and have it sent to PRC since this part of the revised application.

Hi Ms. Joan! I wld like to know if it’s okay to have erasures on my application form that I submitted to my school? I’ve called our registrar and told her to erase my SS# coz u said that I should leave it blank since I’m not a citizen in California. Pls answer…Tnk u n GOD Bless!

As much as possible it would be best not to have any erasures in your forms since it gives more room to ask questions. But if it could not be prevented just make sure that it is very clear and aside from erasing it make sure you wirte N/A or Not Applicable just to make things clear.

I have taken the NLE last June 2009 and I am considering myself to apply and take NCLEX while waiting for the result. I am applying for Illinois. Does it require CGFNS?

It actually requires CES which is a service offered by CGFNS it evaluates all your records etc. But if you have taken the CGFNS examination then the mentioned requirement can be forfeited.

i’m in the process of completing my application pero nagka problema po ko dun sa breakdown of educ. form. i hold two degrees, nutrition& dietetics and nursing, and both of them i took from different schools. most of the subjects except po sa microbilogy was filled up by my nursing school and i was advised na pumunta po sa previous school ko para sila naman mag-fill up noon. kasi sabi po nila  hindi ko naman daw sa kanila kinuha yun subject, so i went… but when i asked them to complete the form they refused, they said that my nursing should’ve completed the form and included the said subject because they credited it in the first place. bumalik po ako sa nursing school ko and sinabi yun paliwanag ng previous school ko pero they insisted on their prior reason na hindi nila magagawa yun kasi nga hindi naman sa kanila kinuha yun subject and madi-disprove lang daw yun application ko if they do complete the form.
what do i do now? i would really appreciate the help. thank you.

I really do not know what to say with your situation since I think your first school is right about the subject being credited so that should reflect on your records. If the registrar refuses maybe you can talk with your Nursing Dean and have him/ her intervene with the issue. I hope that this helps. If all else fails, maybe you can try to talk to your previous school and have them accomplish the form.

Okay as much as I want to guide you through the whole process there are a lot of decisions to be made that I cannot make for you. For starters, please wait first for the June NLE results since most states will require you to have a license where you were educated and took up Nursing. If you passed the exam, decide which state in the US would you want to apply in and we’ll take it from there. You can apply for that through the CGFNS website. You can also download the application form there and most of the instructions you need are in the forms you will be downloading. It basically uses CGFNS to evaluate your data such as school records, licenses etc.

IELTS and CES is not a requirement for California Board of Nurisng . Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

how long does it take to get a reply after mailing an application for retake?

It depends on the state you applied in but usually give it about a month or two before you receive another letter of eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN examination.

hi ms. joan. i received a letter from the cali BON stating that i should send them the clinical portion of my RLE. my school submitted the TOR and RLE already, and the RLE is on the 3rd page of the TOR. how do i tell them that it’s already attached? because i don’t know what else they’re looking for, i have another copy of my TOR and the RLE is the same as the one the school submitted. i really need help because i thought my application would be processed in a timely manner since i submitted complete requirements. can i email the cali BON or snail mail them? thank you for your help in advance.

It would be best to resubmit the papers that the California BON is asking as opposed to questioning their demands. The best thing to do is to have the documents ready and then attach a copy of their letter with the needed documents. If you want to get in touch with them it would be better to give them a call as opposed to emailing because they usually do not reply in emails.

Basic NCLEX-RN fees varies depending on the Board of Nursing you applied to since they all have different requirements. Let’s just say on an average application to the Board of Nursing will take about $300- $500 (this includes furnishing requirements for school documents, mailing etc.). And then registration to take the NCLEX-RN exam is $200 and if you are to take the examination outside of US there will be an additional $150 fee.  Pretty much that is the basic expenses incured when taking the NCLEX-RN examination. As for getting work in the US, preferences of having experience or not varies for each employer. CGNFS is not a requirement in all states so that will depend on which US state you plan to apply in. I think that might work since that is the purpose why BDO make that International ATM MasterCard in the first place. If you use the card you would know by then if it works or not.

you know, i heard some hearsays about getting the license in CA might be difficult.. dba you need first your SSN before they provide you the license?!.. then they would allow you 3 years 4 that,. my question is, if i decide to transfer my license to another state, is it possible that my 3 years allotment time will be affected? and how is the process of transferring goes? is it much easier if i will find an agency to do that? i hope you could answer all my concerns.. thank you very much! have a nice day! god bless! ;p

Applying for the license itself is not difficult it is how to obtain a SSN is the one that is difficult. Within the alloted time that you are given to provide a SSN which is 3 years you can transfer your license to another state provided that you meet their requirements. I don’t think there would be an agency who will do that for you.

Hi again… Just want to ask what’s the best type of visa that would fit an inexperience nurse. how long it will take to process. Because i’m worried about my NCLEX. its been a year and my papers are still not working. I even don’t have my first step to process my visa. Sadly, my license is in the state of CA. It’s alarming that after 3 yrs. they will destoy my profile, so, does it mean that I have to take again my NCLEX or can I apply for renewal online or via mail? or is it better to transfer my license to other state who don’t expires my license and accepts renewal even without SSN. Thank you.

Given the circumstances I think it would be best to secure your NCLEX license by going to a state that does not require a SSN. The retrogression isn’t going anywhere and its the best you could do given the situation. As for the visa, I am not in the best position to give you advice on such as it involves immigration stuff that is way beyond my abilities. It would be best to consult with an immigration lawyer when it comes to such matters. I hope I was able to help.
