After passing the CGFNS certication program, can I still apply for an eligibility to take the exam for Washington state without taking the IELTS yet? Thanks so much for the reply. This sure will be a great help on my application! More power! :)

Well here is the thing I checked the requirements for Washington Board of Registered Nursing and they require the CES which you can get from CGFNS and the TOEFL before becoming eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination. So please take note that you are suppose to take the TOEFL not IELTS if you intend to apply to Washington.

anyone here taking the cgfns qualifying exam on Mar 2010? i need accurate advice as to when is the best time to apply for the IELTS exam. im sitting for the mar 2010 cgfns qualifying exam, is it more practical to wait for the qualifying result before i apply for ielts? no one would want to pay for the ielts exam if he/she failed in the cgfns qualifying exam. has anyone tried this strategy?

I think it would be logical to wait for your results first prior to taking the IELTS. Scheduling for an IELTS exam is much easier as opposed to CGFNS or the NCLEX-RN exam and they have available dates all year round. Plus the IELTS exam has a validity of 2 years after passing it so it would be a far more logical choice to wait out for the results prior to applying for the IELTS.

hi..gud eve…!im bothered kc my application for nclex ay bumalik stating na “we recieved your transcript but need hrs. for microbilogy and ana/phi sent to the board from your school of nursing.THE BOARD DOES NOT ACCEPT TRANSCRIPTS SUBMITTED BY APPLICANTs”….Im a PT grad, so na tapos kuna micro and ana/phi noon when i enroll sa nursing crinedit naman ng institution ung 2 subject na yun, my problem now is 2nd tym na ko mgaaply sa dati kung school kung saan ko natapos ung micro and ana/phi ko, ok lng ba nag pagawa ko ng explanation letter to be address sa head ng BON na natapos ko ung 2 subject ko tas crinedit naman ng instituttion na were i graduated nursing…tas vise versa sa nursing school na were i graduated…pls help me……diko alam kung ano 1st gagawin ko…

Here is the thing… the school where you completed your nursing degree should have reflected those subjects in their transcript if they credited those subjects from your previous school. You can verify with your school where you took up nursing if these subjects are reflected in your transcript if not, maybe they can write a letter addressed to the Board of Nursing declaring the number of hours for the said subjects. And then, the letter should be mailed by the school to the Board of Nursing. I hope this helps let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Hi! Just wanna inquire kasi may friend ako. Nagexpire na ang att and reg nya for Marianas Island pero hindi cya nakatake ng exam and she wanted to apply for Cali BON, what will she do? Will she have to do teh process all over again or will she just make a reregistration?

Registration for Northern Mariana Islands and California are different. She would have to apply and fulfill the requirements for California if she intends to apply there. But if she wants to continue her application for N. Mariana she would have to check first the validity of the records she has existing with N. Mariana Board of Registered Nursing.

TARAWARA

Just want to ask if I need a local license in order to take the NCLEX? I tried to search it but, I couldn’t find any. Do you know which States do not require a local license? thank you so much!

It depends on what state you plan to apply to. But it would be best to secure a Philippine Nursing License as most states do require a license in the country where you took nursing.

ELAINE

hello po can you please help me. i’ve registered and recieved eligibility notice last january 2007 now the thing is, i was not able to send back the application form that was sent to me , for premission to take the test on what state and etc… now i’d like to know if my application is still valid, i mean can i just send the form or apply online to pay the 200 thru credit card and 50 still outside u.s.a. or i have to re-apply?as in the form and fingerprint card again? and start all over again? or only the application form ? and pay for 75 dollars and that’s all, since i already have my fingerprint card with them with my last application? please help me hoping for your response soon…

I am assuming that you applied for the California Board of Registered Nursing. Usually their eligibility is valid for 2 years so if you received yours in 2007 that might have expired already meaning you would need to have a new eligibility. But for what I know California Board of Registered Nursing keeps records of applicants for three (3) years. The best thing to do is give them a call and see if your records are still in good standing. If not, then you would have no choice but to reapply and do the whole process all over again. Verify first with the California Board of Registered Nursing before registering to Pearson Vue and paying the $200 as once you have your ATT you need to take the examination within the year.

Q&A: Visa Screen Information, Getting Your Results and more…

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

APRINA

Uhm…hello po…uhm mag aask din sana ako bout my application sa visa screen ko sa california…hmm meron po kasi yung question dun #12 sa occupational visa kaso di ko alam ano ang mga un at ano ang ichechek na appropriate,, ask ko din sana where ko kaya malalaman how much ung babayaran ko for my visascreen application and pwede kaya ang bank draft ng pnb/bpi and the like, wala pa po kasi ako credit card…and uhm nakapasa na po kasi ako sa nclex ko and ang sabi sa instruction i have to send a verification a request for validation…hmmm kaso di ko pa nasesend kasi di ko alam kung ang ilalagay kong registration/license no. and date of licensure exam eh ung prc license no. ko and local board exam… thanks and God bless po…

Usually you go for Green Card status when you apply as a nurse in the US. Current fee for an initial Visa Screen is 510 USD and yes I think you can pay via bank draft. You don’t put anything in the license number and just attach a copy of the letter that you passed the exam. As for the date, indicate the date you took your NCLEX-RN exam.

ILMER

hello hi..there miss joan, due to your help i have aready took the exam last dec8,2009 for california board of nursing ….thanks a lot ma’am but up to this date i haven’t recieve my exam result thru mail since my board of nursing doesn’t participate in quick result…is there any problem regarding my exam?knor this could be an indication that i failed the exam?..thanks ma’am more power

Here is the thing the time it takes for the letter to come is not an accurate basis whether or not you passed the exam. There are a lot of factors to be considered such as there might have been delays in the mailing system both in the Philippines and the US. At the same time with the recent holiday season the bulk of mail might have been a lot thus taking time to for it to be delivered. Since it has been more than a month you might want to give them a call to get an update on your exam result status but rest assured they won’t be able to give the result to you via phone and will still suggest to wait for the letter to arrive.

CHIE

hi ms joan!! please please help me. . . im a calibon nclex passer 2008, and it’s about to expire. . . what will i do?? some told me to endorse my papers to Vermont state. . . please. .  i dont know how. . . can you help me please. . . what should i do step by step??? super thanks!!!

Okay no need to panic :) You’re results won’t expire until 2011 and that gives you still a lot of time. If you want you can start processing your papers for Vermont by mid this year because as you know these will entail expenses on your part and Vermont has more requirements than California. They require you to have a CES Evaluation from CGFNS so you might want to look in to that first. Also here is the International NCLEX Endorsement Form from Vermont.

LAWRENCE

i took my nclex exam last oct 26, 2009 in manila, and up to now i still haven’t received my result? is it possible that i failed? are there any other way to know if i passed or failed?

Well it depends for what state you took the NCLEX-RN because there are some state that participate in NCLEX Quick Result which allows you to view the result of your exam after a day or so but with a fee of course. But if the state you applied in usually you would just have to wait until it arrives in your mail. I suggest giving them a call and see if there were cause for delays in releasing your result.

LILLADEEP

hi ms. joan! i just want to ask about the online registration. the $200 could be paid by bank draft right? what i’m worried about is the $150 because i don’t have a credit card. is it also possible to use bank draft on that? i really need help coz i’m totally clueless about it. thank you for your answers in the past, i got my eligibility and i’m going to review for the nclex next month. thank you and God bless! ;)

Yes I think both can be paid via bank draft since they just go to the same agency. Good luck with your review :) Also, please take note that you will pay the $150 when you schedule for an exam date and once you register with Pearson Vue you will have to take the exam one year from the time you register.

REGINA

I was able to passed the NCLEX  last 2008.. And my state is California.. I am still here in the Philippines and still I dont have a license because I dont have the SSN.. According to the letter that I received, my application will be forfeited after 3 yrs if I will not be able to provide them the SSN.. Others say to endorse it to Vermont because they are giving the license… How about to endorse it to New York?? are they also giving license even without SSN?? what is the best thing to do inorder to halt the expiration of my application or my NCLEX?? please help naman po.. Thank You

There isn’t a specific way to halt your exam result in California and for most people they do endorse it to Vermont since doing so secures your USRN license. You still have 2011 before your license expires and just use that time to the fullest. You can start processing your papers for endorsement to Vermont towards the end of this year since transferring your license entails a lot of expenses as Vermont has more requirements than California such as the CGFNS CES Evaluation.

Q&A: Retaking NCLEX-RN in California, Live Scan and more…

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

AMAN

hi, i am from india. i have done Bsc. nursing.i want to apply at illinois board of nursing for nclex exam.please suggust me can i take nclex exam directly after Bsc nursing and what is the application and finger print procedure? Please advice me. Thanks

Hi There Aman… It is so nice to see you here on the site :) Here is the thing I am not quite sure what BSC stands for or what BSC Nursing means. Can you explain it to me further? Is it equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree? Let us take it from there and maybe we can discuss your options.

ANNA B.

I took Nclex last Dec, 2009 and I fail, my ATT issued by California Baord indicated that it will expire on Jan 20, 2010. I want to reapply for NCLEX. Do I need to send fingerprint card again together with the reapply form plus 75USD money graft? How do I do it? and Joan, will the expiration date in the ATT will going to affect my reapply form? Please advice me. Im very appreciate your help in this matter!

I am so sorry to hear about your ordeal here is the thing when you received the letter from CA BON usually it comes with the reapplication for reexamination. Just fill out that form and then send the reapplication fee of 75 USD via bank draft. And here is the sad news an ATT is only valid for one exam so you would have to re-register with Pearson Vue and they will give you another ATT. There is a 45 day waiting period from the time you last took your exam before they can give you your ATT. As an advice, do not be in a hurry to retake the examination, take time to analyze what you think went wrong during the first time you took the exam. These things came with the score where you got the lowest scores focus on those areas and take your time reviewing. Good luck!

SASHA

good day! i have big concern po regarding my application for california. second rejection na kasi fingerprints ko due to poor quality. and ganito na tlag afingerprints ko since i was a kid, hindi sxa masxado visible. tanong ko lang po if may live scan ba dito sa phil? thanks po

Unfortunately there is no Live Scan here in the Philippines it is only available in the US. My suggestion is to have as many fingerprint cards done in NBI and then send it all to the Board of Nursing that way they will have more options to choose from when processing. Also it might help to inform the one taking your fingerprint card that there might be some issues with regards to your fingerprints. Hope this helped :)

CHLOE

Hi Ms. Joan! Ask ko lng po US Immigrant po ako and nagaral po ako ng nursing sa Phils. Since I don’t have a license ano po bang pedeng ilagay why I don’t have a local licensed? I also got a letter from them na mgpadala ng copy ng passport ko, class & clinical rotation sched. Do you have any idea if they’re going to allow me to take the nclex exam? Saka po pla yung Date sa trascript that the registrar signed, dpat po ba recent dates yun? Thank you po..

Hi there :) You can state that you are not allowed to take the NCLEX-RN examination due to your status or you can ask PRC to write a letter explaining why they cannot allow you to take the NLE. Maybe that is the reason why they are also asking for a copy of your passport. Most people I have encountered that are in the same situation as you are were allowed to take the NCLEX-RN its just that most of them were asked to verify or give proof of their status as immigrants/ US Citizens. It would be safer to send to them recent TORS, RLE records etc. that way there would be no reason for delay in processing your papers.

GLORIA G.

hi ms joan, i applied for retake exam bon of ca. i mailed it nov 10,2009 from the phil. im now at texas u.s.a . i would like to apply for change of address and name, coz im married with a u.s citizen now. is there a fee i need to pay? hope to pass nclex rn 2nd time take.can i work here in texas if i pass the exam? please help

You can fill out the Change of Name/ Address form provided in the link. No fee to pay in submitting this form. If you plan to work in Texas you would need to transfer your license to Texas once you pass the one in California. At the same time provide the necessary documents needed by the Board of Registered Nursing in Texas.

LIZZIE

hello po. ask ko lang po. i need to pay for my international scheduling fee. magkano po ba ang vat na kailangan ko pong bayaran sa california at wala po akong credit card na puwedeng gamitin at walang kakilala na puwedeng pakiusapan. can i go somewhere who can help me? pls answer po. thanks

As far as I know there is no VAT additional fee in taking the examination outside US territory is 150 USD. There are some NCLEX Assistance center that might do this job for you but of course this may come with additional service fees on top of the original fee.

Q&A: Getting a SSN, Information Discrepancies and more…

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

FMCOR

yes, i am  having the same problem too..i plan to apply in Washington state, what do i need to do to obtain the fingerprint-based background and the social security number they are needing initially for the application? thank you! looking forward on your reply! thanks! Godbless! :)

You can click on the link provided for Washington State Trained Outside The US Application. I did not seem to see any information with regards to it having a requirement for fingerprint evaluation. As for your problem with regards to the SSN as per their instruction if you do not hold one you need to contact them at this number: Customer Service Center at 360.236.4700.

BEVERLY

Hi..i want to ask something, ang nailagay ko kasi na city sa NCLEX application ko is Cabanatuan instead of Cabanatuan City. I received my eligibility and the letter states that the address should be the same sa record ng board at sa pearson vue. I haven’t registered s pearson vue but i am wondering how do i change my address sa record ng board. Will it matter ba if i will not include the word “city”? Thank You.

Well if you do the same with your Pearson Vue records I don’t think that will be a problem. What is even more important are the personal information such as your name, birth date etc. make sure that they are the same with your passport when you take your examination.

IRENE A.

good day po! maam, please help me, i completed my review for my nclex examination, but still, i dont know how to register. please send me a step by step process on what to do on registering here in the philippines. thank you so much.^^

All you have to do is got to the Pearson Vue website And from there the step by step process will be presented to you. Make sure that you have your Letter of Eligibility when you register at Pearson Vue because once you get your Authorization To Test you are just given a year to take the examination.

PACIFICNURSE

To respond to Hazel, you should probably apply for illinois and then endorse to Saipan.  Illinios has considerably more requirements, but it will be easier to endorse from any mainland state to Saipan than vice versa.  If you are missing SS#, TOEFL, then you may want to apply for Saipan, but you

To Barb, just keep calling the Saipan BON. They are often closed but it is best to call after 1:00 p.m. local time.  They do close for random days, but they do answer calls.

Thank you so much for your insight I’m pretty sure it will help them with their application.

CHRISTIAN

Good day, Ask ko lang po kung anu po ang process to apply for nclex?san po ako mag start?thx!

First you have to choose what state you want to apply in. Since each state has their own list of requirements at least from there we can narrow your choice down.

MARIA LIZA

Just want  know how I can check the status of my application with Saipan board of nursing, which was filed last week of August. Where can I follow up or inquire about it?

Unfortunately the Northern Mariana Islands  Board of Nursing does not have a website. You can contact them at these numbers to follow up the status of your application: Phone: (670) 664-4812 FAX: (670) 664-4813. Hope this helps as per one of the readers advice it is best to call at 1300H their local time.
