Q&A: Changing or Updating of Address, ATT Information and more…

SANDRA

HI! am sandra… and i just graduated BSN in the philippines last March 2009… I wasn’t able to take the NLE coz my immigrant visa will be expiring soon and i need to go here in the U.S. to avoid revocation… nwei, i went here in CA and started filing my application for NCLEX… I already had my file number but I still have to work on the documents that are to be submitted by my school… And now, i moved to a new location and thought that i should immediately notify the BON about the change of my address… I already sent the completed form (which i got from their website) to them and its been a month but i never heard anything from them since then… I was waiting for their reply, for as to know whether they’re already updated my info; only to find out that i’ve sent it to their ‘generic’ address and not to their ‘more specific’ address where all revisions/renewals where being processed… My question is, would they be processing it by now? or should I send another completed form to them? Coz I am just worried that they might be sending communications to my old address and am not even notified of what to do next… hope, you could help me out… thank u…

I don’t think that they send a reply when you request for a change or name/ address.  I did the same before and didn’t get a reply from them I just assumed that they got my request and updated their records. If you want you can give them a call if they received your request. Whether you sent it on their PO Box address or their actual address they’d receive it. Most of their mail are sent in the PO Box address they just give their specific address because some couriers do not accept mails to PO Box address.

hi miss joan ask ko lng po medyo naguguluhan ako..US citizen po ako but d2 ako graduate sa pinas and d2 narin lumaki.d ko na po ba kailangan ng tofel or ielts and local license?i aquired my citizenship through birth and already got my ss number.

The IELTS/ TOEFL is not necessary unless indicated by the state you applied in. Since you took Nursing in the Philippines you might still need to fulfill that requirement.

FENG

thanks for the help….but i still another question/problem ang that is i cant remember the month when was i last applied my exam….is it right if i just put in when was i last received my eligibility?thanks again…..

They are looking for the date you last applied for the exam not the time you received your eligibility those 2 dates are far apart from each other and is not accurate. They might need the specific month to track back on your documents etc. Try to look at receipts from couriers or at least give the closest estimate from the time you received your eligibility if you really cannot remember the time you applied in California BON.

hello po ask ko po sana what if nagpaprocess ako ng eligibility sa NEAC and then gusto ko na kasi magpaATT and i want to do it on my own ang concern ko kasi yung mga infos like address and phone number baka hindi magmatch… paano po yun..?? kasi syempre nung prinocess nila yung eligibility ko address nila yung nakalagay…

The question is, is your eligibility with you? because that is the most important thing. If it is, then you can always file for an address change so that results of your exam will be forwarder to you and not to them. The application for the ATT is done with Pearson Vue not with the Board of Nursing. If you worry about the date being different I do not think it would be much of an issue since the important thing with your ATT is that your name should match your ATT and your passport. You just need to change your address so that results of your exam will be mailed to your address and not theirs.

hi i need your help badly.I took my nclex last 2008 and i failed.I took it in the philippines and my att laready expired.I am here in NY now and i want to reapply for NCLEX..what steps should i do?where and how can i apply for my att?please advise..thank you

In which state did you apply for your first examination? If you applied in New York you would have to get the form for Reapplication/ Reexamination. And before getting an ATT you would need to have a letter of eligibility from the Board of Nursing of your choice.

FRANCIS

Hi Joan, I am Francis, one of the avid readers of your advice. I emailed you because I want to ask you something about my application for NCLEX examination. The thing is, i already received my eligibility letter a year ago when im still in the Philippines and I am now here in U.K. I now want to continue my application for nclex, my question is if i submit my registration form from here, i will use my current address here in U.k., do you think it will create confusion and delay my ATT? And one thing more Jo, coz I already paid $107 for application and fingerprint card, do I need to pay another $200 together with my regstration form? Sorry Joan for bothering you, I hope you have time in reading and responding to my question. Thnak you and God bless. More power..

You can always file a change of address for free in the California Board you can find the form in their website. As for your ATT, it would not be much of an issue since you are filing the application for that in Pearson Vue not with the CA BON. The important thing with your ATT is that your name matches the one written in your passport. The $200 is for the registration at Pearson Vue so yes it is necessary to pay that. And if you are to take the exam outside the US then you would have to pay an additional $150 once you schedule for an actual test date. Go ahead with your filing and update your address at CA BON and you are all set. Do take note that once your register with Pearson Vue you are ONLY given a year to take the examination. Thank you for your question and let me know if you have further clarifications… definitely not a bother ;)

Q&A: Using Extra Fingerprint Cards, ATT’s Not Arriving and more…

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

CLEOFAS O.

Good day! I am a second courser, graduated last march 2009 and an immigrant. we’ve just moved in here in LA. 2 months ago i passed my requirements for nclex to the CA BON and today i have receive their initial evaluation of my application tellin me to submit my local license. I have also attached in my previous application my letter of explanation why i dont hold such license but still they required me too. What will i do? pls advice. thanks.

Usually you would need a more detailed explanation on why you do not hold a license here in the Philippines. It would be best to give them a call and explain your status to them and why you do not have a local license in the country you were educated. If all of this fails, you can ask PRC to write a letter in your behalf as proof on why they did not allow you to take the examination.

KDDA_24

hi…i just arrived here in California last July 2009 as an immigrant…i finished my BS in Nursing in the Philippines last March 2009 and i didnt take my Local Board Exam because our Visa have just arriveed at that time…my question is do i have to take and pass my Local Board exam in the Philippines before taking my NCLEx here in California?… pls reply thank you

Well most of the people I have encountered here in the site with the same situation as you are were asked to provide a copy of their local license but we all know that it is not possible to take the exam if you have a different citizenship/ status. For now, what you can do is write a letter of explanation on why you do not hold a license in the country where you were educated which is stated in your question above. Hopefully, that would be enough to continue your process in applying to California BON.

JOANNA KAYE

I got stuck on the nursing code something part.I provided my School Name and Address and also the code that I saw on the Pearson Vue Website, but I really can’t proceed. Is it okay that I register thru phone call and not thru website? Then is it okay if my aunt in California will call the Board of Nursing and apply me an ATT since its her credit card I’ll be using?

It might have been like a computer or internet problem? Have you tried restarting the whole registration process? Well if it doesn’t work you can use the application form that comes with your candidate bulletin and send it via mail. I don’t think you can register through phone you can only call them for exam scheduling not for obtaining your ATT. It would be best if you called not unless your Aunt knows all your basic information that would be asked during the call. As long as you have the necessary credit card information you would be fine.

TWINKLE

Hello miss Joan. Its me again ask me lng po when ma re2civ ang ATT after n nag registered sa pearsonvue kc until now wala pa me nare2civ n email from them nag check n me sa spam & junk mail ko pero ala pa rin. Thnaks po

If you applied online it usually takes minutes. I would suggest looking at your SPAM/ BULK MAIL cause usually it goes there especially if you used Yahoo! Mail. If it doesn’t appear there then it would be best to give them a call to take action to the situation. But if you sent it via mail more or less it would also arrive via mail.

ALETH

i would just like to ask if my extra finger print card can be use by another person, example is my friend that don’t have a finger print card and i got like 6 copies, is that ok for her to use one of those finger print cards? pls reply im really confuse..

Yes she can use the unanswered or extra fingerprint cards it would not be an issue. Just make sure that she is applying in the same state as you are since fingerprint cards differ from one state to the other.

Q&A: Change of Address in ATT, Transfering Schools and more…

Monday, June 1st, 2009

RAM

Ask lng if  my ATT is still valid to take an exam kc nkalagay sa ATT ko old address. I updated it with Pearson vue to have a new address here in the Philippines and napalitan naman. Kaso ung ATT ko, lp;d address parin. Ok lng kaya un sa Pearson vue Makati?

Usually, when you take the examination PearsonVue compares the name on your ATT with your passport as well your photo if its really you. I think you should be worried more with the Board of Nursing you applied in since if they still have your old address then that is where your results would be sent so better update them as soon as possible.

BRIGETTE

Im brigette a fresh graduate in philppines… i just graduated april 3 this year and my mom wants me to go to US to work there… can it be possible to take NCLEX exam in CA,USA even if your not a US citizen and not yet taking local board exam in philippines… im hoping that you can help me…. i really need your reply….

Here is the thing can you work legally in the US? Or at least have a status that can make you stay there? Most Board of Nursings require for a local license so if you can better take the examination. You can take the NCLEX-RN examination even if you are not a US Citizen but then they might look for a license in the country you were educated.

KAZAM

im applying in CA just want to ask po, regards to the papers coming from the school.. kc po, the school already gave the papers i need for my application, together with the envelope, question do i have to go back to my school and let them sign the envelope before i send it? with regards to the finger print, im just bothered how do i fill up the fingerprint card thing.. im just bit confused.. do u have a furnished one so i can have reference. salamat ms joan.. u can email me kung pwede po.. tnx

Well supposedly, the school should be the one mailing the requirements coming from them but the thing is most schools do not have such service so what happens is that the student is the one who sends the records from the school but uses the school as the sender. For added security, you can have them sign the sealed envelope as proof that the documents are sealed and not tampered. As for the fingerprint cards, there is an instruction for the specific abbreviations to be used that came together with the CA BON application. Let me know if you are having difficulty finding it.

DARBEEN

maam i would like to ask, regarding my att i just received my att way back october 6,2008 right now i still not yet schedule my exam date..would like to know if i can still take the nclex here in manila if ever i made a appointment this coming MAY or JUNE? regardless that my ATT was almost 8 months given to me and yet i did not register for a long time after it was released? and my next problem is i cannot open my account in pearson vue yet i still follow the instruction to change my password but i cannot access to my account it always said that my password was denied? tnx a lot it would be a big help for me from you to response to my question…

Your ATT is valid for one year so as long as you schedule a test date before your ATT expires it would be fine. And well as for being able to take the test in Manila in around May or June it would depend on the available slots presented by PearsonVue. As for your account in PearsonVue, it would be better to inform them about your worries so they can see the main problem. Try to request for your username or password which you can do when logging in to your account.

PAULINO

This is in addition to Cheska’s inquiry. Like her, I had my first course (IT) which i took from school A. Then I transferred to a nursing college, school B  where i had my Anatomy and Microbiology subjects. I finished my nursing course at another college, school C. While all the subjects that I took from school A & B were reflected in the transcript at school C, is there a need for me to request  EACH school send the OTR to CA BON? How do I go about showing the “breakdown of international program”  when i took ana & microbio from school B, and the rest of nursing subjects at school C? Please shed some light of clarification. Your reply will be gladly appreciated. Thank you in advance. :)

Okay since you have mentioned that subjects taken from school’s A and B then there wouldn’t be an issue with your TOR from school C. As for the breakdown of international program, If it is credited then I don’t think that school C would have a problem in accomplishing that form too since the mere fact that they credited those subjects means it passes their standards. But if they refuse to do so then you have no choice but to have it done in school B where you took the subject. I hope this helps and good luck!

Q&A: Authorization To Test, Supporting Documents and more…

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

JACQUES

I am a second courser and recently graduated from a Phil. nursing school. I am also a US immigrant. I’ll be leaving last week of April for the USA and won’t be able to take anymore the NLE. Do the CA BON rquire now a local license before taking the NCLEX? Any help ragarding this will be hihgly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

This is a case to case basis. Technically speaking, they require a license in the country where you took up nursing but since you are an immigrant the PRC might not allow you to take the NLE. Some people who applied in CA BON were asked for their Philippine License but then explained their case to CA BON and was then allowed to take the NCLEX. So as mentioned this will be a case to case basis.

CHELLE

hello maam.. just wanna ask po kung what po mga particular na itatanong pag nagpa schedule po ako ng exam kasi po bali ung tita ko po ang tatawag para po magschedule sa akin.just to be ready po kunng ano man po mga itatanung po. At ung ATT po ba na dapat ipresent ko po when I take the exam is pwede po ung senend sakin tru my email at iprint ko na lng po un or hintayin ko pa po ung ipapadala sa akin tru mail? tnx po

The questions that are going to be asked are your basic information as well as questions on what state you are applying for and maybe some information found on your ATT. You will not receive another ATT from mail the one you received in your email inbox is the ATT you would be presenting when you take the examination together with your valid form of identification which is your passport.

SHADOW

Hi…. I just passed my NCLEX-California last year and I’m quite dountful if I can provide them my SSN within 3 years so I’m planning to to transder my license to other state who doesn’t require SSN (to be able not to expire my license because of retrogression it’s very difficult to apply for working visa and to find employer esp. for inexperience nurse (I graduated on 2007 but, still I just on;y have my 5mos volunteer exp. and its already 2009) he he… thanks pls. help me how to apply for the reciprocity law and what states doesn’t require SSN… Thanks

Congratulations! If you plan on transfering your license to another state just fulfill the requirements from the state that you chose by application by endorsement.

CHESKA

hi!!! yung po bang PRC license or certificate of board passing i-phophotocopy??? no need po ba mgbigay form s PRC???

You will use it for what? It would be better if you could send a certified true copy of your license or board rating or an original copy of the certificate of passing as opposed to just a photocopy of the mentioned documents.

CATH

ma’am i would like to ask, humihingi po ung form ng social security number, applicable po ba iyon sa atin un? or i will leave it blank n lng? tnx:)

Just leave it blank they are pertaining to the US Social Security Number.
