Yes its different. CES is used to evaluate your credentials and school records. While as the VisaScreen is used for immigration purposes but also includes the evalauation of your credentials and records. In order for you to successfully obtain a VisaScreen you would have to be able to pass the NCLEX-RN and the IELTS examination.

Not necessarily. It depends on what state you plan on transferring your licenses to. Each state has different requirements.

hello!..this is my first time to post a comment,.hope you can help me.. someone told me to apply for interim permit but the thing is that,. i’m not a NLE passer..and it’s too late when i knew about it because i already passed my application letter..and I received a letter from BRN, a list of all the requirements and it is included the copy of my license from phil.. what pong gagawin ko para po malaman nila na wala po akong license and pwede po bang pacancelled nalang ung interim permit?…

If you are an immigrant or a US citizen you can always write a letter addressed to CA BON the reason why you do not hold a license in the Philippines. But for other reasons, that might be a difficult case to defend since a license in the country where you were educated is a requirement. I thought you were not able to apply for an interim permit? Whether or not you use the interim permit is up to you.

hi! i just wanna just, if iin the new policy of nclex vermont, do we still have to take the cgfns exam first? coz im a bit confused about that. i want to start processing my papers but this issue confuses me.. pls i need your response thanks a lot!

No they only need you to apply for the CES Report NOT the CGFNS Qualifying Examination.

You can submit it now because even if you applied for the CGFNS verification the evaluation of your credentials will be forwarded to New York BON not to you.

You can always endorse your license in Texas but be ready to fulfill the other requirements  that they have. If you are planning on securing your NCLEX-RN examination have you considered applying in Vermont?  Your CES report can be used there as well and have lesser requirements than Texas.

i have a question to ask about my visa screen and CES from cgfns. i have an on going order for the visascreen but i wanted to add one more order for CES course by course evaluation for healthcare professionals. do i need to go to a different process like sending the same papers once again or should i just pay the bill and they will use the same papers that i sent for my visa screen? hoping for ur help

If you order it online more often than not whatever documents you have provided with your VisaScreen application that is applicable with your CES application will be carried over (e.g. licenses, school records etc.) not unless they have expired. If they need more papers from you they will inform you. But for now, just request for the CES application and from there they will inform you what other pending documents they would be needing. It is possible as long as you can provide them with the necessary documents they need and if you do not intend to practice in Arizona because like you mentioned you would not be moving until next year. Please be informed that California requires you to give your Social Security Number in your application or else your application will be sent back to you.

hi, i am an immigrant here in CA but took my nursing degree in the Philippines. i had already sent the board of registered nursing my application, fingerprinting, and all the necessary requirements for my  application for examination. unfortunately, instead of receiving an approval what they gave me are completion of the following:

1. transcript (both theory and clinical hours)
2. class schedule for the nursing program completed my nursing school
3. clinical rotation schedule sent directly by the school
4. transcipt (s) set directly to the board of registered nursing for all education/ training completed prior to enrolling in your nursing program
5. copy of visa or passport (all pages) validating your entry and departure dates reflected on your educational transciript(s)
6. registration or the enrollment form

all of these are uncalled for. are they questioning my authenticity? if there is anyone who has the same experience as mine. how long did it took them to do the evaluation before giving you the permit to take the exam? please i really really need answers.

I am so sorry for this unfortunate incident. But let me tell you that this is not the first time that such documents have been asked from immigrants who took nursing in the Philippines. Let us just say that each applicant is a case to case basis so no individual application is alike. I cannot answer as to why the CA BON are asking for such requirements but it could be possible that they just want to verify/ clarify some data from your school etc. It would be best to just provide them with the documents requested since without such documents your application will not be completed. If you provide them with what they need they will grant you with your eligibility.

hi! first time to post here so im not sure if im posting at the right place.. anyway, i applied for the CA-NCLEX last year, november 23 2009.. then i received a letter from BON that they have not received the  copy of my related learning experienced. then i mailed to them my RLE last may 10 2010, until now i haven’t receive a letter of notification from them that they received my RLE.. matagal po ba talaga processing non?

Yoiu did post at the right place. Processing usually takes a month or two. I think it would be valid to make a follow up on your application by giving them a call.

i would like to ask on what should i do regarding my endorsement to pennsylvania. i passed the nclex rn under the state of california, of course, i dont have ssn. so i cant get a license. mag expire ung sa cali this december. i dont want to take it again. how can i endorse it to pennsylvania? do i need ces full education course by course? how about texas?which is easier? i already have my visa screen certificate and ung sa ces full educaton course by course, my recepient for that ces certificate is pennsylvania. but i have learned only just this day na d daw required sa pennsylvania ung ces, and what i need is to take the cgfns qualifying exam just to endorse to pennsylvania. i dont want to take cgfns exam. so im thinking of texas, if pwede na sa kanila ku na lng iendorse. i need your help. please TT

hi!!! ask ko lang po kasi hindi talaga ako makatulog sa kakaisip.. i took nclex (california) once and i failed so i planned to re-apply again.. kaya lang kasi may nabasa ako sa forum na kapag walang SSN hindi iproprocess ang application.. is it true ba? so you mean i can’t retake my nclex na.. i’m a nurse in the Philippines.. i’m reviewing but hindi ako makapagconcentrate sa nabasa ko.. ano dapat kong gawin? i have a visa in US but it’s a tourist visa lang. 2019 pa maeexpired.. pls. help me.. ano dapat kong gawin? pls give me an advice..

As of now yes it is indeed true. I have a friend who had the same experience as you are and upon reapplying her application was denied due to the new memo. But remember that if your papers reached there prior to the renewal then most probably they will allow you to take the exam but if not they will just return your papers together with your application fee. If the latter happens, it would be best to apply to other state such as Vermont which do not require a SSN. Having a tourist visa does not change anything at all since that visa allows you to visit the US as a tourist.

Vermont is a state which does not require a SSN but they have more requirements than California.

hi.. tanong ko lang po.. if you dont pass the nclex, will they still send you a letter na di ka nakapasa? salamat po…pero almost a year na wala parin akong natatanggap na mail from them. i tried calling but they put me on hold. what must have been the possible problems kaya kung bakit masyadong matagal ang result? im so frustrated right now. hoping for your ideas…

Yes absolutely. Whether you passed the exam or not they will inform you. One reason why you did not receive a letter is if transferred from one place to another? There might have been an issue with regards to sending the mail. but one year to wait is too long best thing is to call the Board of Nursing in which you applied in and NOT Pearson Vue since they are the only ones facilitating the examination all results will still be forwarded to the Board of Nursing you applied in.

hello..i do have the same prob with regards to my NCLEX application…i have sent it to the California Board of Nursing without knowing about the SSN memorandum then i have received a mail returning all my application including the bank draft,finger print card,etc ..i was just thinking if there will be any option for me to take my NCLEX to other state without requesting for an SSN??..thank you in advance..your response is of a great help for me…GODBLESS

Vermont seems to be a popular choice for many since they do not require a SSN. But they have more requirements than California such as the CES.

It would be best to take the Philippine Board Exam prior to taking any examinations abroad. In a way it gives you a fall back plan just in case things do not go well with your application in the NCLEX and you would still be needing to earn experience prior to being able to work abroad. And most Boards of Nursing require you to hold a license in the country where you were educated.

i checked the CA-BON website and all i saw was “You will need to provide a U.S. Social Security number before a California license can be issued to you.” Shouldn’t they change this to include the memo?

As per recent experience from other applicants, CA BON will NOT accept any applications if you do NOT have a U.S. Social Security Number. This means even on your initial application if you cannot provide them with such then your application would just be sent back to you.

Vermont is a good choice since they give you a license right away but it does require CES.

Yes offices such as NEAC offer services which can help you with your NCLEX- RN application but of course this comes with fees. Please do bear in mind that handling your NCLEX-RN application is not as complicated as you think and if you follow instructions carefully you can do this on your own.

As of recent changes in both State Boards of Nursing it would be best to apply in Vermont because they do not require a SSN to apply. CA BON changed their application process recently and now require a US SSN to be presented or given during your application or else your application will be denied.

I am an NCLEX-RN passer of the CA BON. I would like to ask if i can endorse my NCLEX pass exam to New Mexico? Do they require  a Social Security Number before the New Mexico issue a license  by endorsement?

I could not access the NM BON site as of the moment, but most probably they will require you to have a SSN.
