Q&A: Vermont Renewal, Missing Requirements and more…

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

AVRIL

Hi, I have taken and passed the NCLEX-RN of vermont last May 2009, and it will expire in 2011. However, Im not yet going to practice as an RN in Vermont any sooner. My question is: Do I will have a problem when I renew it? Do I need an SSN to renew it? I hope you can give light to my inquiry. Thanks and more power!

Did they gave you like a certificate or a license already? If so, then you might not have any difficulties renewing it. And are they demanding ofr a US SSN at any moment? But here is the thing their rules change every so often so there really isn’t a definite answer to your dilemma. Besides 2011 is still a long way and a lot can change by then.

LOVECHOC

hi ms. joan, i got a letter from BON in california and stated that i submitted an incomplete requirements. i need to send them a copy  of my TOR, RLE, RLE breakdown and certified true copy of my diploma. i thought there’s no need to send a certified true copy of my diploma since i provided them a copy of my license? anyway, do i have to attach a personal letter to the documents they were asking? or just send them the documents to complete my application without any letter? hoping to hear from you ms. joan. and thank you so much! God Bless! i am so desperate to finish this application process. take care then.. :)

Well during my time that is what I did since they were asking for a diploma that proves that I can practice nursing in my country. But it seems like in general they did not receive any documents coming from your school. So what you can do is just request all of these things from the school and then have it placed in a sealed envelope and then attach a copy of they letter they sent as well as a personal letter explaining the contents of the sealed envelope as per their request. Hopefully that would solve the problem.

hello ma’am, I’m a second courser and I am filling up CGFNS-CES form (for ILLINOIS BON). I have some questions regarding the education.  Do I have to write all schools that I’ve attended, including my masteral program (non-health)that I failed to complete?

Anything that will affect your application especially nursing related should be placed. I do not think that would be an issue as long as you indicate it as not completed. But if it is not necessary to place might as well not place it as it just might lead to further confusion. But if the question indicates whether it is completed or not then it might be fine to put it. You are in the best position to decide in this situation.

CONFUSED1

hi ! im just confused right now, i passed my application for NCLEX-RN in BON in california.. and i know my school sent all the rest of the requirements that they need..together with that i attached my fee in a form of a check.. it’s been a month now i dont receive any letter from them at when i check my bank acct, the BON cashed it already.. does it mean that they had my application approved ?? im confused.. so somebody lighted me up.. i was trying to call the board of nursing in california but i always been hold for a long time.. thank’s  a lot !!!

Give it time sometimes it takes 2- 3 months before you respond as they are entertaining a lot of applicants. When they cash in the check it does not mean that your application is approved it means they are processing your papers. There might still be some documents needed from you and the only way to know that your application is approved is when you receive your Letter of Eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN examination. I suggest to give it another month and if you do not hear from them you can give them a call to ask about the status of your application. Good luck!

CRESCENT_MOON

Hello ma’am, I have my visacreen already and I am planning to take the NCLEX exam: Chicago board. I would like to asked which address, application forms or website I should be applying. Please guide. Thanks

You can find most of the things you need at the Illinois Board of Registered Nursing site please click on the link to download the application form. If you have any further clarifications I would love to be of help.

GRACIELA B.

I would like to ask how to fill up the fingerprint card. Is it okay to use the whole word because I do not know what are the codes.  And regarding to the residence of the person fingerprinting what address should i use? US address or our address in the Phil? Also could youhelp me construct a Letter of Explanation or give me tips on what should I say?
First what state are you applying to? If you are applying for California the abbreviations for the fingerprint card are provided with the application form. You can read my article on how to apply to the California Board of Registered Nursing by clicking on the link provided. Also here is an idea for the California Board of Nursing Letter of Explanation. Hope this helps.

I am planning to take the NCLEX eaxam for the state of New Mexico but I need to submit th CES. Do i still need one when I already have a CGFNS certificate and Visa Screen Certificate?
It depends if New Mexico will accept either the CGFNS Certificate or the VisaScreen. But upon checking their site I think they require the CES Report.

hello maam i failed my nclex examination just recently and i got a lot of questions on how to reapply, i badly need your help. my first question is, can i pass may request for reappply/repeat examination as soon as i got the letter? or i need to wait for 45 days before i can pass the reapplication letter? my second question is that do i still need to pass the nursing verification? my third question is that after the $75 do i need to pay another $200 and $150? :) thanks please email mam i will wait thank you so much =)
Yes you can submit the reapplication form already since it will still take a while for them to process the papers. You can consume those 45 days while waiting for your eligibility. The 45 day wait period is for taking the examination not reapplying for the exam.  As long as you passed your nursing verification form before it won’t be necessary to pass it again. Unfortunately yes, you would have to pay Pearson Vue to re-register and then pay the additional $150 to take the examination. Just take your time before going through the examination don’t rush in to it and try to analyze which areas were the most difficult and focus on them while reviewing.

I want to know the next schedule for Philippine Nurses Examination 2009.

Q&A: Chicago Application, 2nd Courser’s Dilemma and more…

CARMELA

Hi Ms. Joan! I wld like to know if it’s okay to have erasures on my application form that I submitted to my school? I’ve called our registrar and told her to erase my SS# coz u said that I should leave it blank since I’m not a citizen in California. Pls answer…Tnk u n GOD Bless!

As much as possible it would be best not to have any erasures in your forms since it gives more room to ask questions. But if it could not be prevented just make sure that it is very clear and aside from erasing it make sure you wirte N/A or Not Applicable just to make things clear.

ROBIN

I have taken the NLE last June 2009 and I am considering myself to apply and take NCLEX while waiting for the result. I am applying for Illinois. Does it require CGFNS?

It actually requires CES which is a service offered by CGFNS it evaluates all your records etc. But if you have taken the CGFNS examination then the mentioned requirement can be forfeited.

MICA

hello there again ms. joan, wat are the complete requirements for NCLEX if im going to apply in illinois? and wer can i get the CES and how to process it? thank u again.

You can see the entire list of requirements for Illinois at the link provided. Also you can download the CES Application at the CGFNS website.

i’m in the process of completing my application pero nagka problema po ko dun sa breakdown of educ. form. i hold two degrees, nutrition& dietetics and nursing, and both of them i took from different schools. most of the subjects except po sa microbilogy was filled up by my nursing school and i was advised na pumunta po sa previous school ko para sila naman mag-fill up noon. kasi sabi po nila  hindi ko naman daw sa kanila kinuha yun subject, so i went… but when i asked them to complete the form they refused, they said that my nursing should’ve completed the form and included the said subject because they credited it in the first place. bumalik po ako sa nursing school ko and sinabi yun paliwanag ng previous school ko pero they insisted on their prior reason na hindi nila magagawa yun kasi nga hindi naman sa kanila kinuha yun subject and madi-disprove lang daw yun application ko if they do complete the form.
what do i do now? i would really appreciate the help. thank you.

I really do not know what to say with your situation since I think your first school is right about the subject being credited so that should reflect on your records. If the registrar refuses maybe you can talk with your Nursing Dean and have him/ her intervene with the issue. I hope that this helps. If all else fails, maybe you can try to talk to your previous school and have them accomplish the form.

Q&A: Applying In Chicago, Requesting Fingerprint Cards and more…

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

DYOSABANANA

hi there!just want to ask it it okey If I take may Nclex in CAlifornia although i intend to work in chicago?

Its okay but of course doing such has its pros and cons. It might cost you more in the long run in terms of time and finances if you take the exam and California and then have your licensed transfer to Illinois. So just weigh out your options and decide on where you want to take the exam.

hi there! can you pls help me where can I download fingerprint card?I intend to work in chicago?pls help me..thanks..

Fingerprint card for which state? For California, you can request copies of fingerprint cards here. If you are requesting for Illinois fingerprint card you need to contact them at this address:

Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
ATN: Division of Professional Regulation
320 West Washington Street, 3rd Floor, Springfield Illinois 62786
Telephone: 1(217) 782-8556

CRISTOPHER J.

Good morning! I am worried a lot about my fingerprint cards. I sent the two finger print cards. Before that, I put my nickname in the aliases or aka box which the NBI found out that it should be blank since i don’t have other names. I’ve put my nickname there because i thought it’s a nickname since here in the philippines especially applying in nbi requires other names so my mistake. So what the NBI told me is to erase using a white out. I already sent my application last couple of days. But i’m still worried if the card will be rejected which will create delay in my processing.. What shall i do?

All you can do right now is wait. If ever there would be problems with your application the California Board of Nursing will send you a letter via mail for any correspondence with regards to your application. The best thing you could do right now is request another set of fingerprint cards and then have it accomplished at the NBI and just have it ready just in case the CA BON asks you to resend another set of fingerprint card. That way you save time rather than just waiting for their correspondence doing nothing. I hope this helped. If you want you can give them a call to verify the status of your application.

Thank u very much Miss Joan! But I have another question again,Kailangan po ba Authenticated ng PRC ang copy ng license ko bago ko mail sa CA.Lahat po ba kailangan nila sa copy of license ung Board rating,Certificate o ID xerox lang po.

To be safe send them a certified photocopy of your PRC license or the PRC diploma if you have it at hand already. If not, you need to request from PRC your Certificate of Passing as proof.

DEE

thank you so much for your reply. and thank you for this site. i have been reading all the infos again and again=) cross-checking my application and all.you are such ablessing to us. i know you’ve heard this so many times but i guess you’ll here a lot more as new nurses are graduating. again thanks and God Bless!

Thank you so much Dee for the kind words it really warms the heart. I would like to thank you for the support to the site. I just wish you can help me spread the word about the site so we can help more people who are in the same situation as us. I would greatly appreciate that and good luck with your future endeavors.

EKINGB

I have relatives in states California. Im here in the philippines applying for NCLex. SO u mean ang ilalagay ko sa application address ko is my relatives address?

That depends with you. I usually suggest using a US address since mailing of documents in the same country would definitely be faster. But sometimes its not enough to have relatives abroad you have to make sure that your relatives can relay to you the correspondence coming from the CA BON so that you can also repsond to them accordingly.
