First you need to choose which state you intend to apply to from there you can fulfill the requirements of that state in order to be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination. Let me know if you have decided on a state to apply in and we will take it from there

Hi Ms. Joan, I am planning to endorse my NCLEX-RN to the state of Vermont since my pass letter will expire this Nov. 2010. However, I’m confused with the CES evaluation report, do I really have to submit on this? and which is better agency? -ierf or cgfns?Another thing is, Where would I send my transcript,rle grades and the verification of my licensure is it in the ces agency or to vermont?Hope you can help me with this. Yes the CES is a requirement to be able to endorse your license to Vermont. CGFNS is the commonly used agency at least with the people I know and they do a good job of making your records seen via their website thus making it convenient to check on the status of your application. You would have to send the mentioned forms to CGFNS together with the necessary forms for the CES application. You just need to send a copy of your PRC License together with your Vermont application. Hi Ms Joan! Another question please…I am widening my options so I’m going to ask if it’s easier to just reapply at Vermont and have it endorsed at Missouri? Also, BON California sent me a letter last January saying I passed. Is that considered a ‘pass letter’? They said I need to enclose a pass letter with my application to Vermont. I don’t want to waste $10 just in case the one I have now is considered a pass letter.

Congratulations on passing the exam. Here is a reasonable way to look at things if you intend on practicing nursing in Missouri then it would be best to just go ahead and endorse your license in Missouri rather than jumping from one state to the other. But, if you are just after securing a USRN license at the moment then Vermont might be a far more better route then endorse it to Missouri when visas and work opportunities arise. It is considered a pass letter but Vermont is asking for a pass letter with your picture which is not sent to us but to the state board you applied in. So you would still need to pay the $10 to CA BON so then they would be the one to send the official pass letter to Vermont. Hope this information helped

Do I have to wait for my WA State license in order to process my Visa Screen or can I file it now, because i don’t have a WA license yet

If you really intend on practicing in Washington it would be best to wait out for your license to be transferred from California to Washington. Because you would need to have your license verified as part of the requirement for VisaScreen. Also its important to know where your employer would be placing you is it in California or Washington? But since you also mentioned that you already applied for endorsement to Washington (meaning your papers are now on process) it would be best to wait for its result just so to prevent any discrepancies.

Congratulations! Well unfortunately, the SSN letter from California Board of Nursing does have an expiration. If I am not mistaken, they are giving you three years to take provide with a SSN so they can issue you an actual license. With the recent retrogression it seems difficult to be able to provide such because if there are no visas for nurses there is little chance you will also be able to get hold of a SSN. Realistically speaking if you just want to secure your license, meaning not retaking the exam you can transfer it to a state that doesn’t require one such as Vermont. The thing is though there are other requirements by Vermont that needs to be accomplish and of course this comes with a price. Another advice I can give you is to use the time given by the CA BON use that time to save up for possible transferring of license/ endorsement to another state and maybe a year before your license expires that is the time you think about endorsing it. Also you can hope that by then hopefully the retrogression has been lifted and more opportunities for nurses arise.

Hi Ms Joan ask ko lang po kasi nag apply na po ako ng NCLEX last December 2009 US citizen pa ako and I used my US address on my application kasi mas madali daw pag US address ginamet up to now wala pa kong narereceive na letter from BON normal po ba yon? Kasi nababasa ko pa sa iba 1 month lang may letter na sila nakukuha from BON Im just worried about my application. Please help me kung ano po dapat kong gawin? at kung normal po ba na two months na wala pang reply? thanks a lot po.

As I always stress out all applications are a case to case basis. But an advice I always give is that after a month its usually reasonable to follow up on the status of your application so that by then you will know what necessary actions to take in order to push through with your application. Try giving them a call (this is the best way to get a fast and direct answer). Always check or ask your relatives in the US if they have gotten any correspondence from the CA BON and they might have just overlooked it. Thanks very much for giving me the link for the Missouri endorsement. I have a few questions about it:

1. I can fill in the Missouri Endorsement form at home except for Section VI which needs to be verified by a Notary Public? Will any Notary Public do, or do I need to go to PRC to have it notified there?

I think it would be best to go to a credible notary public and PRC seems to be the best way to go.

3. The form is asking for a license number (Section III). Yes, I did pass NCLEX California, but I don’t have the actual nursing license. How do I get the license if I’m in the Philippines? I don’t have an SSN. I have no way of getting to Cali since I don’t have any kind of visa.

You do not need the actual license in order to do this. You need to submit a license verification form the Missouri Board of Nursing and send it over to California Board of Nursing together with the fee which is $60 it would help to attach a copy of the pass letter you received from California BON as reference.

4. “You need to have a credentials evaluation service, approved by the board, send our office a course?by?course evaluation report or have the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) send our office your CGFNS certificate. A list of credentials evaluation services can be found on our web site or by contacting our office. A Temporary Permit cannot be issued until the course?by?course report or CGFNS certificate and evidence that you were originally licensed in another state or territory by a recognized examination are received and evaluated.” — This part was a confusing for me. Does it mean that I need to send only one of the three requirements? Also, I’m not familiar with the requirements being asked because BON California didn’t ask for those before. Can you please explain the quoted statement for us?

CGFNS Credentials Evaluation Service (CES) is one of the products offered by CGNFS some US States get the service of CGFNS and other companies alike to evaluate your educational degree and if it is at par with the US standards. So instead of the state boards evaluating your credentials they let companies such as CGFNS do it for them. Unfortunately, you would need to have the CGFNS or any of the credited agency mentioned in their site evaluate your school records.

Hi. I would just like to ask. Is it ok if I put my uncle’s address in the mailing address on the application form? since he’s in New York. Because after three months I’d be staying there anyway. And is it also ok if i put in the IMMIGRATION STATUS that Im temporarily in U.S even if Im not yet there? Can I notarize my application form here in the Philippines? Thanks! It would be fine to use your uncle’s address for your application. The thing is even if you are staying with your uncle that doesn’t mean that your immigration status also changes although there is an option of being a non immigrant but the thing is you are not yet even there and if you declare that that is equivalent to giving false information not unless you submit your form once you get there in the US. If you want to pursue towards that direction it would be best to submit your application form once you get there and just process the other requirements such as CVS-NY etc.

I have a question regarding about my ATT, upon printing my ATT i totally have a different address printed on my att because i was using my sister’s address at america for mailing purposes only which i was their for a vacation and applying for my Nclex application…how can i change my ATT to my address here in the phils?… it say’s in the info that i have to match my name and address to my identification card which is my passport. Hi There. I personally think that this might not be an issue since in your passport it doesn’t indicate an address where you are living. The important thing is that your name and identification (passport) matches the ATT those are the crucial things they look at when you take the examination. But if you feel uncomfortable, you can always contact Pearson Vue for the change of address.

The SSN is being provided by the US Government/ Immigration not by any state boards of nursing. And each person who is legally staying in the US are assigned with a SSN. As for your relocation, this will depend with what you and your employer agreed upon but most probably if you want to work in Saipan you would need to relocate there since Saipan and California are far from each other.

Kapapasa ko lang po ng NCLEX exam (for Cali) last January po…Tapos this February po, nakahanap po ako ng employer pero based po sila in Missouri. Ngayon po, hindi ko po alam kung anong mga hakbang ang kailangan ko gawin para maprocess ko po ang papers ko don. Hindi naman ako masyado matulungan ng employer kasi first time nila maghire ng nurses out of the country…

Congratulations! Most of the requirements you need for Missouri Nursing Application can be seen on the link provided. You do not need to have a SSN in order to verify that you passed the NCLEX-RN examination in California. You just need to submit the form that is supplied by the Missouri Board of Nursing to verify your license and pay the fee needed to process such to the California Board of Nursing. And yes you would need a Course by Course Report from CGFNS as a requirement by the Missouri Board of Nursing. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

You can just send a photocopy of your diploma rather than sending your actual diploma since they won’t be giving that back to you. In relation to this, please take note that the diploma they are asking for is the one you get from PRC stating that you are a registered nurse not the one given by the school. There isn’t a specific rule in California that you need to have a local license to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination but be ready to make an explanation letter on why you do not hold a license in the country where you were educated. This is usually a case to case basis. They will process your application even without the SSN but upon passing they will write a letter to you asking for your SSN in order for them to provide you with your actual license. Also, please take note that  the SSN is given to legal residents/ US Citizens. Hope this helped. Good luck with your application.

hi..i need heLp..i am actuaLLy working on my NCLEX appLication right now..but i have these questions which reaLLy bother me:
1. i didn`t take the NLE Last year because i have to go to the US as soon as i graduated..do i have to write and send a written expLAnation about this to the CALifornia BON?

Yes you would still have to write an explanation letter on why you did not hold a RN license in a country where you studied nursing.

2. how many finger print card/s do i have to send?

If you are already in the US you can just take advantage of the LiveScan process. I think it is much convenient as opposed to the finger print card process. You can download the Live Scan form in the California Board of Registered Nursing Website. But if you opt to do it via fingerprint card you just need to send one.

3. is RLE records the same as Course Description?

Nope its different. RLE is the record of your related learning experience which is kind of a breakdown of the number of hours of duty you did every year as a nursing student. It also gives them the description of what is being done during those RLE each semester. The course description on the other hand enumerates and describes each of the subject you took in order to complete nursing school.

It depends on your reason for not being able to take the local board exam. Most of the people I have encountered do not hold a Philippine RN license because they are either an immigrant or a citizen of another country.

i was wondering if anyone can help me…i am currently in seattle, washington right now…i’m about to become a resident alien and will be getting my social security number soon.  i called up the washington BON and was told i need to have my TOR evaluated with CGFNS but it doesn’t necessarily mean i need to take the exam.  is this true? and i still also need to take up TOEFL.   which is ok with me…but a friend of mine who is a resident in hawaii took a california nclex and processed a reciprocity with hawaii after he got his cali license…and he said the nclex is all that is required in cali..no more toefl…i asked about this with the BON too and they told me i need to have proof of california residence for endorsement…so i’m kinda confused right now whether to a.) just process everything here in washington or b.) try to do it “the easy way”, if it really is the easy way, and just apply for cali and have my cali license endorsed to washington.

Yes what they are saying is correct. Because the CGFNS Exam is different from the CGFNS CES wherein the Washington BON uses CGFNS’ services to evaluate your nursing degree (especially if you graduated outside the US) if it is at par with their standards. With the CES, you need to provide CGFNS with your school credentials etc. With regards to your other query, you have to understand that each state has different requirements so you cannot really compare each state’s process. The thing is though when you endorse to another state you might still need to provide the state wherein you plan to transfer to whatever requirements they might have that California did not require. I think it would be logical to just apply in Washington if you intend to practice in Washington as opposed to applying in California then endorsing to Washington it saves you time and money at the same time.

hello, i badly need help,, i just finished the ces process which i think the first step on allpying nclex in Illinois. Whats the next step after that? 1. I already printed the CT NUR/ ED NUR forms but i dont know how to fill them up.

You just need to fill up the first half of both forms which is your basic information. As for the Profession Name write: REGISTERED NURSE and Profession Code is 041

2. What about the SS#? im totally confused

Well the SSN is given to a person who is legal resident or citizen of the USA. So not unless you are either of the following you can just write N/A.

3. After filling out the forms, ED NUR will be submitted to the nursing School while the CT NUR will be submitted to PRC, am I right? just like the CES process? I hope you can help me guys! Thank you,,,

ED NUR is sent to your school and then once they have accomplished it you can send it together with your application form. The CT NUR will be given to PRC and then they will be the one to send it to Illinois Board of Nursing. Hope this helped to clear out things in your application. Best of luck!
