After passing the CGFNS certication program, can I still apply for an eligibility to take the exam for Washington state without taking the IELTS yet? Thanks so much for the reply. This sure will be a great help on my application! More power! :)

Well here is the thing I checked the requirements for Washington Board of Registered Nursing and they require the CES which you can get from CGFNS and the TOEFL before becoming eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination. So please take note that you are suppose to take the TOEFL not IELTS if you intend to apply to Washington.

anyone here taking the cgfns qualifying exam on Mar 2010? i need accurate advice as to when is the best time to apply for the IELTS exam. im sitting for the mar 2010 cgfns qualifying exam, is it more practical to wait for the qualifying result before i apply for ielts? no one would want to pay for the ielts exam if he/she failed in the cgfns qualifying exam. has anyone tried this strategy?

I think it would be logical to wait for your results first prior to taking the IELTS. Scheduling for an IELTS exam is much easier as opposed to CGFNS or the NCLEX-RN exam and they have available dates all year round. Plus the IELTS exam has a validity of 2 years after passing it so it would be a far more logical choice to wait out for the results prior to applying for the IELTS.

hi..gud eve…!im bothered kc my application for nclex ay bumalik stating na “we recieved your transcript but need hrs. for microbilogy and ana/phi sent to the board from your school of nursing.THE BOARD DOES NOT ACCEPT TRANSCRIPTS SUBMITTED BY APPLICANTs”….Im a PT grad, so na tapos kuna micro and ana/phi noon when i enroll sa nursing crinedit naman ng institution ung 2 subject na yun, my problem now is 2nd tym na ko mgaaply sa dati kung school kung saan ko natapos ung micro and ana/phi ko, ok lng ba nag pagawa ko ng explanation letter to be address sa head ng BON na natapos ko ung 2 subject ko tas crinedit naman ng instituttion na were i graduated nursing…tas vise versa sa nursing school na were i graduated…pls help me……diko alam kung ano 1st gagawin ko…

Here is the thing… the school where you completed your nursing degree should have reflected those subjects in their transcript if they credited those subjects from your previous school. You can verify with your school where you took up nursing if these subjects are reflected in your transcript if not, maybe they can write a letter addressed to the Board of Nursing declaring the number of hours for the said subjects. And then, the letter should be mailed by the school to the Board of Nursing. I hope this helps let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Hi! Just wanna inquire kasi may friend ako. Nagexpire na ang att and reg nya for Marianas Island pero hindi cya nakatake ng exam and she wanted to apply for Cali BON, what will she do? Will she have to do teh process all over again or will she just make a reregistration?

Registration for Northern Mariana Islands and California are different. She would have to apply and fulfill the requirements for California if she intends to apply there. But if she wants to continue her application for N. Mariana she would have to check first the validity of the records she has existing with N. Mariana Board of Registered Nursing.

Just want to ask if I need a local license in order to take the NCLEX? I tried to search it but, I couldn’t find any. Do you know which States do not require a local license? thank you so much!

It depends on what state you plan to apply to. But it would be best to secure a Philippine Nursing License as most states do require a license in the country where you took nursing.

hello po can you please help me. i’ve registered and recieved eligibility notice last january 2007 now the thing is, i was not able to send back the application form that was sent to me , for premission to take the test on what state and etc… now i’d like to know if my application is still valid, i mean can i just send the form or apply online to pay the 200 thru credit card and 50 still outside u.s.a. or i have to re-apply?as in the form and fingerprint card again? and start all over again? or only the application form ? and pay for 75 dollars and that’s all, since i already have my fingerprint card with them with my last application? please help me hoping for your response soon…

I am assuming that you applied for the California Board of Registered Nursing. Usually their eligibility is valid for 2 years so if you received yours in 2007 that might have expired already meaning you would need to have a new eligibility. But for what I know California Board of Registered Nursing keeps records of applicants for three (3) years. The best thing to do is give them a call and see if your records are still in good standing. If not, then you would have no choice but to reapply and do the whole process all over again. Verify first with the California Board of Registered Nursing before registering to Pearson Vue and paying the $200 as once you have your ATT you need to take the examination within the year.

PRINCESSPHAU

was wondering what site i can visit to check if i can get a finger print card for Washinton State so i can do my endorsement. By the way they are asking me about AIDS Education and Training Attestation. Where can I possibly do that or have it done here in the Philippines? Please help

I think when you request for a packet application for Washington it will come with the fingerprint card. As for the education usually it is available online just make sure that it is accredited by the Washington Board of Nursing.

i hope u can help me..i am applying for nclex states of cali.. i forgot to include my application fee in my requirements what will i do?i already send all my requirements im thingking of email it separately via money order..

Well I am not quite sure if they accept money order to be sure send a bank draft. Obviously, they will not process your documents without the application fee. You can still send in the fee but just make sure that it has your name on it to be certain that the fee will be credited to your account.

Good day… I just received my IELTS result… Too bad that I only have a TBS of 6. Is it ok? i think U.S. accepts a TBS of 6 right? I still don’t have an employer yet. Do you know some agencies who process for visa screen? I already passed my NCLEX also. However, still don’t have any work experience yet. Is it ok for me to be in training program like for dialysis or accepts the 1 yr and 6 mos contract for the ICU if ever they will absorb me because I apply there for volunteer and they said that it will depends on my performance if they will hire me. But, 1 yr. 6mos. is too long. Does U.S. accepts training or volunteer experiences? Thank you for you future reply…  More power…

Your band score is fine BUT your band score would depend on where you actually plan on using it since it varies. I do not know any agencies who shoulder visascreen expenses. As for the experience, it would be best to get experience especially with the retrogression it might take a while before visas for nurses will be available. At least with the experience, it opens up more options for you plus the training will be a great boost for your confidence in this chosen field.

Q&A: IELTS Score, Lacking Requirements and more…

MARICEL0981

Hello Ms. Joan I Hope all is well with you. Anyway, I really need your advise.. I’m a US Citizen and i just finished my nursing degree in philippines and now i’m planning to take a nclex exam here in california but i haven’t take the PRC exam in philippines. Please Advise Thanks.

Here is the thing if you are a US Citizen the PRC might not allow you to take the PNLE. But the best thing is to verify with them if they would allow you to sit in for the exam. The reason for asking is that sometimes when you apply for California they still ask you if you have license where you took your nursing degree. But then again this is a case to case basis. You can always explain your case if in case they ask you why you do not hold a license in the Philippines.

REDGEPG

hello, will it matter if in my eligibility letter i was addressed as MR. instead of MS. , i think i mistakenly placed M in my gender instead of F ?

You have to inform the Board of Nursing where you applied in. That might be an issue when you take the examination.

JIPEE

hi. ask ko lng po on how will i renew my CA-RN license.. my license was released because i send the BON a TIN. but i received a letter that i should renew my license with a SSN which i dont have because i only have a tourist visa

You would have to verify this with the Board of Nursing since I know that they have made some changes with regards to this. The best thing to do is to inquire with the BON.

PRINCESSPHAU

Hi..can you please help me I have my license in California and i want to make an edorsement to Washington State. I’m having a hard time doing that. Do I still need to request for finger printing card? Im in the philippines now. Please help. and Ms. Joan do i need finger printing card? Could i just request for that in Washington State since i’m here in the Philippines?

First thing to do is to download or request from the Washington State the endorsement form. Usually when they send you a copy of the application it comes with the fingerprint cards. If not there is usually a part of the site wherein you can request for fingerprint cards and then have it accomplished here.

JOPET RN

hi..just recently discover this site and at the same time just preparing my papers to apply..my questions are: is it true that vermont just recently changed its rule on applying for nclex just this july09? so i decided to shift to cali..does it require breakdown of course description frm school and how will i know if i have some problems on my papers upon passing to them?thanks God bless…

Yes Vermont just changed its requirement. They now require CGFNS CES evaluation. California has forms for the school to be accomplished and that includes the Breakdown of Nursing Education which is provided when you download the application. If ever there would be problems with your application the CA BON will contact you via mail  for any issues.

CRISTOPER J.

Maam Joan, Good day! I have concern and worries with my NCLEX application. The BRN had not responded to my letter through fax. I delegated one of my relatives in the USA to follow up my application status. I filed my application last October 2008. I’ve received an initial letter from BRN telling me that I lack my school documents. Until now August 2009, I have not received any letter from them regarding what’s the problem with my application. I called my school that they already sent my documents. I’m worried because few months from now my application will be abandon. What should I do? We’ve tried everything. Calling them was kind of hard. That’s why we sent through fax.
Maam Joan, I already took my IELTS. Could u evaluate my score?
Listening- 6.5
Reading -7.0
Writing -6.0
Speaking- 6.5
OBS- 6.5
Is there any country that would accept me as a nurse? not as a student visa. Hoping to hear from your advise
Well you cannot argue with the CA BON if they think that you lacked ypur school requirements all you can do is to provide them again with the said documents. This time around, instead of the school sending it you can send it yourself just attach a copy of the letter they sent you and just make sure that the school documents needed are placed in a sealed envelope with a signature of your registrar.
As for your IELTS grade it would be hard to enumerate everything. But to be safe I think you would have to have an overall band score of 7 and at least 7 in all areas. But verify first with the country you intend in working in as the grade requirement varies from eacn country or state.
RITZILYAP
hello… i have a few questions regarding the nclex registration. this is my first time and i really have no idea how to start..im hoping for your guidance. please do help me.. thanks..
First you need to decide in which state you want to apply in. From there you can download the application form in the state you intend to apply in. Most of the instructions needed are in the forms when you download it. If there are any further clarifications in applying you can always post a question here and I’ll get back to it as soon as I can.

Q&A: Retaking the NCLEX-RN Examination, Change of Address and more…

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

NEOTRINITY

Hi! I would like to clarify about the retake forms. In California, they gave the instructions to download the forms.  But they also said that once you pass your requirements, you dont need to pass them again.  in the reapplication forms, (by the way, they did not send any reapplication forms with the rejection letter) there’s a nursing verification form for your school (again?).  i thought we dont need to pass any more forms that we previously sent the Cali BON?  I really need to know which form/forms to send coz I cant wait to retake my exam.  Need to get it over with ASAP. Thank you in advance.:D

Okay here is the thing, if you have sent a nursing program verification form before then it is not necessary to send them again. All you need to mail to them is the filled up re-application form and the fee of $75. After mailing those forms, you should receive your ATT after a month or so. But please bear in mind that you have to wait for 45 days since you last took your NCLEX-RN exam before you can reregister in PearsonVue.

CHELLE

hello maam.. I received a letter from california stating that I passed the NCLEX-RN exam and that they are requesting me to submit my US SSN which I dont have. What should I do maam?..And how will I confirm that I really passed the test? Can I call them? And kailangan ko pa po bang magtake ng CGFNS at IELTS for california maam? What shall I do next maam?..

Congratulations! Well the letter is enough to confirm that you have passed the test as it states. As for the US SSN the thing is you have to find an employer for that. As for the CGFNS and IELTS it is not a pre requisite for California Board of Nursing. You might want to consider applying for the VisaScreen which some employers look for in Nurses but way all options first since US is in recession and currently no visas are being released so you might want to consider that first. You can always gain experience first in the field to broaden your options.

MARIE R.

I am getting married within the year to an American but I still wish to practise my profession. I have taken it twice but failed.  Is it better to take it after getting married. Will my married status erase my record of passing it twice in a row? Or is all right to retake th eNCLEX prior to getting married. I am confused as I am no longer practising my profession after having flanked twice. Thanks, Joan

I don’t think your civil status would change the records of your NCLEX-RN exam taking history. And if you are married, make sure you inform the Board of Nursing in which you applied to about the changes. Usually, most Board of Nursing’s have forms pertaining to Change of Name/ Address forms. You just need to take this as a challenge more than anything else. Before taking it again, take time to analyze everything and see where you think things went wrong. If it helps, you can view my article called NCLEX-RN Materials and Tips that might help you out. Good luck and let me know if I can help you with anything else.

BIGDADDYDRE

i’ll be taking my NCLEX-RN exam here in the Phils this coming november. the address in my ATT is my mom’s address in california and i’m currently residing here in the Phils. will the Board still allow me to take the exam even if i have a different address indicated in my ATT? Thank you Mam and God bless!

Yes the address would not be an issue. What you need to consider in taking the exam is the name on your ATT should match the one in your passport. Good luck with your examination!

EMY_08

hi! cud sum1 help me pls? im applying for nclex. in sending my otr, do my school have to send the original or the certified photocopied one? Should they also attached the university diploma? i have my PIC already, do i also have to send my board certificate?

Okay I am kind of confused with your question. Your school should be the one sending all the requirements that they are asking from the school not you. The college diploma is not necessary what you need to send together with your application form is the copy of your license if you do not have one at the moment the board certificate would be fine.
