Uhm…hello po…uhm mag aask din sana ako bout my application sa visa screen ko sa california…hmm meron po kasi yung question dun #12 sa occupational visa kaso di ko alam ano ang mga un at ano ang ichechek na appropriate,, ask ko din sana where ko kaya malalaman how much ung babayaran ko for my visascreen application and pwede kaya ang bank draft ng pnb/bpi and the like, wala pa po kasi ako credit card…and uhm nakapasa na po kasi ako sa nclex ko and ang sabi sa instruction i have to send a verification a request for validation…hmmm kaso di ko pa nasesend kasi di ko alam kung ang ilalagay kong registration/license no. and date of licensure exam eh ung prc license no. ko and local board exam… thanks and God bless po…

Usually you go for Green Card status when you apply as a nurse in the US. Current fee for an initial Visa Screen is 510 USD and yes I think you can pay via bank draft. You don’t put anything in the license number and just attach a copy of the letter that you passed the exam. As for the date, indicate the date you took your NCLEX-RN exam.

Here is the thing the time it takes for the letter to come is not an accurate basis whether or not you passed the exam. There are a lot of factors to be considered such as there might have been delays in the mailing system both in the Philippines and the US. At the same time with the recent holiday season the bulk of mail might have been a lot thus taking time to for it to be delivered. Since it has been more than a month you might want to give them a call to get an update on your exam result status but rest assured they won’t be able to give the result to you via phone and will still suggest to wait for the letter to arrive.

Okay no need to panic You’re results won’t expire until 2011 and that gives you still a lot of time. If you want you can start processing your papers for Vermont by mid this year because as you know these will entail expenses on your part and Vermont has more requirements than California. They require you to have a CES Evaluation from CGFNS so you might want to look in to that first. Also here is the International NCLEX Endorsement Form from Vermont.

i took my nclex exam last oct 26, 2009 in manila, and up to now i still haven’t received my result? is it possible that i failed? are there any other way to know if i passed or failed?

Well it depends for what state you took the NCLEX-RN because there are some state that participate in NCLEX Quick Result which allows you to view the result of your exam after a day or so but with a fee of course. But if the state you applied in usually you would just have to wait until it arrives in your mail. I suggest giving them a call and see if there were cause for delays in releasing your result.

Yes I think both can be paid via bank draft since they just go to the same agency. Good luck with your review Also, please take note that you will pay the $150 when you schedule for an exam date and once you register with Pearson Vue you will have to take the exam one year from the time you register.

I was able to passed the NCLEX  last 2008.. And my state is California.. I am still here in the Philippines and still I dont have a license because I dont have the SSN.. According to the letter that I received, my application will be forfeited after 3 yrs if I will not be able to provide them the SSN.. Others say to endorse it to Vermont because they are giving the license… How about to endorse it to New York?? are they also giving license even without SSN?? what is the best thing to do inorder to halt the expiration of my application or my NCLEX?? please help naman po.. Thank You

There isn’t a specific way to halt your exam result in California and for most people they do endorse it to Vermont since doing so secures your USRN license. You still have 2011 before your license expires and just use that time to the fullest. You can start processing your papers for endorsement to Vermont towards the end of this year since transferring your license entails a lot of expenses as Vermont has more requirements than California such as the CGFNS CES Evaluation.

You can photocopy your license and just have it verified by PRC. Where are you going to use it? Sometimes you just need to provide the Board of Nursing a photocopy unless told otherwise.

Not necessarily. The fee you paid for is just for processing your application but that does not mean that your application would be approved.

hi joan, it’s eva again.  re: my niece who eventually decided to apply for the VT nclex, i think she stumbled on a problem.  i guess this is re: the PRC license.  in the meantime that she don’t have the license hard copy, can’t she not apply?  does VT really need the hard copy of the license as proof that she really is licensed in the Phil?  i think that’s the cause of the delay that’s why she can’t even file the application for VT…please help…thanks a million.

Hi Eva. Unfortunately, your niece has to provide a copy of her nursing license it is part of their requirement or else her application would not be processed. What she can do so as to not waste time is to apply for the CGFNS CES Report which is also part of the requirement for Vermont.

I studied is Manila from 1998 till 2000 for Nursing but did not finish the last semester due to family migrating to CA.  I went back to PI last year to finish my last semester and attend the augmentaiton classes and clinical rotation for almost 2 months to finish my degree.  After my submission to the CA BRN, there was a lot of question and doubts that my papers were a fraud and until today we are still communicating with the BRN and submitting other papers to prove the validity.

My question now is, if the licensing analyst has so many doubts about the schools from the philippines that she is already stereotyping and asking if I went to a small school in the Philippines, how do I escalate this issue?  Please advise.

This is the first time I have encountered such issue. Did you complete your nursing degree in the same school? If so, then maybe the school can then give the CA BON a letter proving you graduated from their school. Also, maybe a proof that their school is legitimate by giving you or the CA BON copies proving that they are approved by the CHED or whoever governing authority is in charge. That might be able to help out in terms of the credibility of your school. It might help also to explain the whole situation you were in that is why you were not able to complete your course right away. I hope this helps.

hello mam joan.. i would like to ask about Credential Verification Service for New York State. I already passed my requirements yet my status was still incomplete. I applied with my friend yet I have 3 unreceived documents while my friend has 2. we did the same steps together even the day we mailed requirements.  I’m bothered because the application has an expiration day of only 90 days. I applied last September 13

Okay here is the thing maybe there was a problem when mailing the documents. Do you know which documents are not yet received? If they haven’t received it yet more or less they won’t receive it. When you sent those documents do they have tracking numbers? If yes, then maybe you could check the status of your mail and see what went wrong. The safest thing to do is request the needed requirements again and send it to CGFNS and if you did not use special courier try to invest on it the next time you mail documents. Its expensive but reliable. But if you had problems with the PRC documents it would be better to use regular mail than courier just based on experience.

Yes it is just one page but did you include the reapplication fee? Usually it takes a month or two before you receive your letter of eligibility.

Hi! I’m planning to take my NCLEX exam for Chicago, as of now, I’m currently working on my application… I’m having a hard time working on the “Credential Evaluation Service or CES”. I dont know where I can download the form for Chicago, I thought that the philadeliphia form will work, but when I went to the PRC they asked for the Chicago CES form

The reason why you are having difficulty is that the form for the CES is not available in the Illinois site. You need to get it in the CGFNS website and the link provided leads you to the CES Form.

It would still be by endorsement since you’ve already passed the NCLEX-RN Examination.

Thank you for being supportive and i think i’m thanking you a little late that’s due to boxbe never opened it before not until one of my contacts said the message he sent bounced so i checked on it and found so many messages that i’d been waiting for sometime all there and it included yours,ha,ha,now i realize the importance of doing some extra reading…well  the reason why i said i cannot retake NLE anymore,i guess(but hope there were changes made)it’s because it’s only good for two years according to the book:Professional Nursing in the Philippines,page16:”Renewal examination shall be taken within two years after the last failed exam” since the first exam which i mentioned “i didn’t make it”(just so shy to say i failed)and this Nov. is the 2nd year after my first take..but oh thank you for your kind assistance and for giving me the hope to make it.Hope you have an update on NLE retaking. It would be best to check with PRC just to see where they stand.

I have posted a thread previously on how to retake nclex after failing and ur advise is really helpful on the steps of retaking. Now i already pass the page 5 of the retake form in vermont to PRC, however, i have a problem on sending mine part page 1-4 of the form coz i can’t find a bank that will make a bankdraft for me to be able to attched the payment in the application form that i will send. I already tried BPI and Allied bank so far but they don’t cater (though BPI did before in my first take) unless u have a dollar account and i dont have that. Right now I don’t know how to pay the $30 retake application fee. Do u know any means of paying it or maybe banks that will accept bankdraft even without a $ account? i tried to search but i can’t really find similar problem that i have.

Its kind of unusual for them to have a dollar account as a prerequisite. It would be best to ask a bank where you have or a family member have an account. Its usually part of their special services and it would be easier to get these type of services when you have an account with the bank. You can always try other banks such as BDO, Metrobank etc.

Also I am confuse with 365days open for the eligibility??? It’s already past 1 year since i took my first exam in nclex in vermont. How this affect my application? do i need new registration form as if my first time to register or just retake form?

I think what it means is that an eligibility is valid for a year so you have to take the exam within the year. But since you used that eligibility when you took the exam first time around then you need to re-apply thus the retake form once you submit that, you will then be given another eligibility so you can retake the examination.

I already passed the page 5 of the retake form in the PRC and paid the express mailing. i’m just concern if i did pass the right form?

Yes the page 5 of the form should be submitted to PRC and they will be the one to mail it to Vermont Board of Nursing.

Lastly i dont know what to fill up in this question of the form. “I have practiced nsg as defined in 26VSA 1576, for atleast: 120 days (960 hrs) in the last 5 yrs or 50 days (400 hrs) in the last 2 yrs?” pls help me, i have spent whole day researching on this matter but i cant find specific answers to my questions. Thanks a lot ma’am joan!

Well if you have practiced as a registered nurse you need to declare it and see if it falls in the two categories mentioned and there is always an option below that you haven’t practiced nursing in the past 5 years from the time you graduated.

Usually this is really a case to case basis depending on who handles your documents in the California BON. Just try to rewrite a letter to them explaining in detail why you were not able to take the PNLE and besides the PRC might not allow you to take the PNLE because of your immigration status. Just explain your situation and provide supporting documents to prove of such. Usually that does it and an eligibility is granted. I hope this helps.

i took the NLE last year and passed. i will be petitioned by my fiance who lives in california. if i plan to work in the U.S. as a nurse, do i still need to have the required 2-year work experience as a nurse here in the PI? THANKS A BUNCH and more power!

The Board of Registered Nursing does not require any work experience to be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam. The work experience might be an issue when it comes to your prospective employers but that will very depending on what their requirements are.

Just verify with your school but a course description basically is a description of each course/ subject you took in order to complete and obtain a degree in Nursing.

I rechecked the site and it doesn’t state anything but since it requires a CES Report a part of that application will ask whether or not you have a license and you would have to explain why you have or you do not have one.

I have questions regarding my NCLEX application for the Illinois Board of Nursing.

1.  Do I still have to accomplish the CT-NUR Document?  Isn’t it just the same with the CGFNS’s CES Report?

Yes even if it seems like its redundant its still part of their requirement and you would still have to fulfill it or else your application would be incomplete.

2.  Do I have to wait for the Board to make me eligible to take the exam before I can register to Pearson Vue? Or should I apply to the Board and register to Pearson at the same time?

If you register with Pearson Vue right away it means that your Authorization To Test (ATT) will be processed and you will be given a year to take the examination. If you are certain that you can get your eligibility from the Illinois Board of Nursing then you can go ahead and register with Pearson Vue.

i hope this reaches u and that i can get some answers too. i live in NJ & have a niece that had just passed the PRC Nurse’s exam last July ‘09.  am in a dilemna as to what State should she apply for her NCLEX.  some told me VT is easier..but since am in NJ am also contemplating to have her apply in NJ.  am going thru both States.  i find VT’s requirements less cumbersome than NJ, though..however, with the additional $380 for the CES for VT, i guess it puts more weight financially..i don’t know..what do you think? VT’’s process is more should i say, “personal”.  it requires an email for a personal contact w/ the applicant.  i haven’t gone thru NJ’s yet, but just looking at it makes my eyes blurry for the many requirements..looks very impersonal…am really at a loss here.  please help…thanks..appreciated…..eva

I think that she should apply in the state where she really intends to practice if you look at it in that perspective she saves more financially because if ever for example applies in VT and then intends to practice in NJ then eventually she would have to endorse to NJ and still fulfill whatever requirements NJ has in order to complete the endorsement process. Does your niece have papers in order to work or practice in the US? Or you just wish for her to obtain a US RN License? If so, then VT seems to be  a better choice since they do not require a SSN to obtain a license. That way, even if she is in the Philippines she can secure a US RN license.
