Q&A: Endorsing your license, Expired application and more…

TIN

hi good day. I passed nclex under cali bon but it will expire this october. I’m just processing my papers now to endorse my license to illinois, do you think i still have enough time to do that? thank you so much

It might be a tight schedule but if you are able to get your documents to CA BON before October then its a possibility. The important thing is that you get to submit the verification of license form or the equivalent to California so they can forward the result right away to Illinois.

i hav a problem regarding on wat state to endorse my california license which wil b xperiencing nov 2011… a fren told me dat BON s no longer acepting a leter of xplanation anymore to xtend the xpiration date… the remedy dey formulated s thru reciporsity or endorsing to another state… i am stil hir n the phils and hav no idea which state is best to endorse my california license… plis help me abt my query… tanx…

A popular choice seems to be Vermont since they have an endorsement application tailored for International Nurses. You just need to fulfill their requirements and then you can endorse your license to your state of choice.

If you are pertaining to your local license you can always write a letter of authorization and attach a copy of your valid ID addressed to PRC. Make sure that your authorized representative in the Philippines know your basic information for the paper works.

hi ask ko lang po regarding the NCLEX exam, i passed my requirements prior sa notice nila na need ng SSN will they take my application even without SSN? what do you think? im really really confused right now pls reply thx

If your application reaches to them prior to the ruling then chances are they will still consider your application. If not, they will inform you and return your application.

to miss joan, thank u for your reply.  now i just need to schedule my nclex.  but i still have a question, im planning to move to chicago once i got my rn license.  im wondering if what will i do. like, do i have to get cgfns cause i heard it is a requirement there. and what other thing should i do. thanks again miss joan!

If you plan to endorse your license to another state you would need to fulfill whatever requirements they have in order to be eligible to transfer your license. If the CGFNS exam is a requirement then you might need to take it since you were educated outside the US.

hi ma’am I took the nclex exam last oct 2007 and unfortunately i was not able to make it. My ATT had lapsed already last Oct 2007 as well, I consumed the entire 365days validity of my ATT. My question is for example I want to retake my nclex exam this year do i start from scratch? I mean do i start with the NCLEX application again, gathering all the requirements and sending it to CBON? please help me so I would know what to do. thanks

There is a big possibility that you might need to start from scratch especially if your application has reached 3 years. Please bear in mind also that CA BON has a new ruling with regards to applicants who do not hold a SSN. If you do not hold a SSN you cannot apply to CA BON so you might want to reconsider applying to a different state.

Q&A: Eligibility expiration, CGFNS requirement and more…

MAI

hello miss joan! first of all I want thank you for you patience reading and answering all of our querries. I have the same problem with some of the nurses here and I understand that CABON is the hot topic here! I took my exam last Oct.10,2008 but I didn’t passed. I immediately reapply and my eligibility for reexamination was sent Dec.23,2008. Until now I am not registering to Pearson Vue yet because I’m not sure when I’m gonna take my second exam. I’m here now in Qatar w/ my family since June 2009. My question is, when is the due date of my reexamination? is it Oct.10,2010 or Dec.23,2010? It was written on my Eligibility that: ”YOUR FILE WILL BECOME INACTIVE AND WILL BE DESTROYED IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER AND TEST WITH PEARSON VUE WITHIN 2 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF ELIGIBILITY LETTER” I really need your immediate reply. Thanks in advance. God bless.

I am very sorry to hear about the exam. the due date of your eligibility is on December 23, 2010 so you have to take it on or before the said date or else your eligibility will expire and will have to reapply to CA BON to be eligible for the examination. It would be best to try taking the exam since CA BON have made some changes in terms of their application process. Currently, they do not entertain applicants who do not hold a SSN. So if you decide not to take the examination you might not be able to reapply to CA BON and would have to choose another state to apply in.

Hi.. I am an NCLEX passer and I didn’t take CGFNS.. I’m planning to process an endorsement or transfer of license… Do you know any state that does not require CGFNS? Thank you and More Power!!!

A lot of state do not require the CGFNS examination but most states will require you to get a CGFNS CES Verification. States such as Vermont, Las Vegas etc. require this document in their application.

My NCLEX ( CALI) expired last July 6, 2010. I called the Board and asked for an extension.I was granted a visa last May and I thought I would be in the US by June and have my SSN and file for my Cali license.Due to some circumstances, I am still waiting for my interview with my employer before departure. My problem is that the Board will no longer give any extensions pursuant to the April 2010 policy.I don’t know what to do anymore. Please help.

Obviously I cannot answer for the board. If that is their final decision then we have to respect that. You can try to temporarily transfer your license to another state and then later on when you are in the US transfer it back to California. Inquire with the CA BON if its possible for them to forward the result of your NCLEX-RN examination to your Board of Nursing of choice. It is important to clarify with them if your NCLEX- RN result will remain valid despite the pursuant of the April 2010 policy. If not, then you are left with no choice but to retake the NCLEX-RN examination and apply again.

wat  state doesnot require CGFNS in processing endorsement or transfer of license frm state of california…

You can almost endorse your license to any state in the USA. The important thing is to be able to fulfill the state of your choice’s requirements. A lot of state do not require the CGFNS examination but require the CGFNS CES (e.g. Vermont, Las Vegas etc.)

Pls help me p0!thanks a l0t ma’am!g0dbless

The detailed list of instructions, forms and requirements can be found at the CGFNS Website. There are two ways to submit your application online or snail mail. If there are no problems with your application and process goes smoothly results of your CES can be forwarded to the Nevada BON within 3- 4 months.

good day ms.joan…i would like to know if applying for nclex exam in state of Northern marianas island is a good one? may nakapagsabi din po sa akin na mabilis daw po dumating ang eligibility from them…how long would does it take for them to send me my eligibility after i send them my application?what is their time frame in sending their eligibility? but i also heard that it is difficult to deal with them, how true is this?please i need your advice…thank you

Its difficult to deal with them since they do not have a website and you would have to rely by calling them and their office sometimes can be difficult to reach according to other people’s feedback. A good way to look at things is to apply to the state where you intend to practice or work. That way, it saves you time and money as opposed to eventually transferring your state from one place to another. Usually eligibility can be sent to you within 1-2 months considering there are no problems with your application and requirements.

hi ms joan.. please help me.. im really confused about visacreen? right now i have a pending application on cgfns for credentials evaluation.. do i still need to apply for a visacreen and ISPN? i know that one of the requirements for a visacreen is to pass either the NCLEX or the CGFNS exam. and ill be taking the NCLEX this sept. but i will be leaving the country soon..so is a visacreen really needed before working to US? help me please so that i could prepare all the documents needed from my school and from PRC..thanks..

It depends. If you are leaving the country because you will be a US Immigrant then it might not be necessary. Other than that a visa screen is necessary in order to fulfill requirements if you are applying as a nurse in the US.

MHE

good day, hello po, with regards to the forum above,y and base o my understanding you are not able to take the exam for cali if u do not hold an ssn…

Yes it is true.

isa sa mga kaibigan ko ay may att na to take exam ng nclex for cali, he is worried na what if naipasa nya ang exam pero ala syang ssn? bago pa kasi required ang ssn ay naapproved na papers nya.

It is true that this will be an issue later on. Your friend will still be able to take the examination but if and when he/ she passes the examination the California BON will still require your friend to provide with a SSN.

its true na ang vermont ay mas maraming requirements, including cgfns before taking the nclex. i wana know if ilang years ang expiry if u hold a certificate of cgfns at kung pwede itake ang nclex at the same year at ilng yers din ang expiry or the validity ng nclex license? thank in advance. may you kindly supply me for more info.

Usually a CGFNS expires within 3-5 years depending on the service. It is possible to take the NCLEX and the CGFNS exam in the same year depending on your ability. Please bear in mind that what Vermont needs is a CGFNS CES not the CGFNS Certification Exam. Initial licensure in Vermont at least for international license is one year and then you have to renew it afterwards. I hope this helped.

CHARLENE

nabasa ko po sa reply mo na it takes 3-6months to endorse .mag eexpire po kasi sa akin on Sept 04,2010 makakaabot pa ba ako iff start ko na bukas mg expressmail/lbc.salamat po i need your immediate reply po.

It might be possible but you are walking in a very fine line here.

RAE

hi! help po.. i passed the cgfns and ielts last 2008 and the nclex 2009… and i want to apply for an immigrant visa.. i got married this april 2010 and wish to change my name and marital status and address before applying for a visa… panu po ang gagawin ko? thanks

I might not be the best person to be giving out advices with regards to immigration as this involves legalities and laws. It would be best to consult an immigration lawyer regarding your problem.
